Hi, my dad won't allow me to download anything from the PSN on my psp using his credit card information until he knows it's safe. He says, maybe if it was downloadable on our computer he would allow it but I don't know if that's possible. Does anyone have any legit info that could convince him that the PSN is secure? This is a huge issue for me, so any help at all would be great.

THANKS

Think, this is SONY we are talking about. If your info is not secure and something happens, you can sue them. This is not just some unauthorized program, it's made by Sony and many people buy stuff from it everyday.

And remember, don't ever give your password to anyone. They might get in your account and steal a lot of $$$.

There is media GO software which your able to put on a computer and buy things through there, then transfer them to the PSP. Also there are PSN cards available to buy at all major retailers that handle video games and at places like 7-11, these cards come in $20 and $50 denominations. As for security the PSN store is as secure if not more so then any website because it can only be accessed trough specific means, such as computer software/PSP/PS3. Hope this helps.

If your father really doesn't want to use his credit information, I suggest you just get a PSN card and take care of your purchases that way. Honestly, as far as I know the PSN is secure because countless people use it daily and I have never heard of an issue, but things happen. Who knows.

the biggest risk is probably from your wireless connection, not from the security of the psn network transaction. I highly doubt there will be people hacking and monitoring your wifi network though.

It's Sony. It's totally safe and fine. You can also buy these off your PS3 or PSP. It's totally fine.

tell him this... a ps3 is just a gateway to the intenet....your downloading the content from the exact same source as you would be from a computer...same server etc etc. its perfectly safe, as safe as amazon...or whatever else you use :)

Yeah, your credit card number won't be just floating around on some flimsy PlayStation website somewhere. The Store is kinda like the middle man. It's like PayPal... (sorry for the bad analogy. It's probably not even accurate).

It's save.

I've been using my credit card on the PS3 for a few years now. It's totally save. I actually have never heard of anyone getting their credit stolen or hacked into unless the card holder did something stupid.

No, you cannot trust them. They will steal all your money sell your kids, sell you to science, ALIVE! They will come and steal your identity and ruin your life, your wife will leave you. They will post your embarrassing secrets all over youtube! you will be sold as a science experiment! Consider yourself warned! Ether that or nothing will happen.

I liked the amazon analogy, especially since my neighbor who's also my dad's friend used it today when I asked him to convince my dad.

Of course its safe, but I don't recommend buying stuff while your on a different network since its never safe to use your credit card over some one else's internet.
