Lets be honest now...   if we are all on the PSP forums, our answere will probably be "thats true!!!!", but that would make us all  fanboys, wich im proud to say that im not. I do however, like my PSP alot and think its beeing somewhat underated and snobed by all those people that think that playing a "casual game" like brain age makes them gamers, therefore, all the polls and interviews about which handheld is better shows the DS as the winer, but that's up to real gamers to decide and not "brain age players" (not that theres anything wrong with playing brain age though).

To get a better image regarding the current state of the DS and how its not what everyone thinks, read my blog by clicking on my avatar. Track me or something if your interested in discusing issues like this one or others regarding hanhelds.

Write your thougths, remember "be someone or be somebody's fool" (quote from gamespot).

I have both and I honestly use them both the same amount.  I honestly couldn't pick one over the other... they're too different. I really enjoy the fact that I can watch movies and listen to music on my PSP which I can't do on my DS. But on the other hand, the DS has the touch screen. In my opinion DS games are more fun to play than most PSP games. Don't get me wrong the PSP has some great games out there but I just think the DS has more great games ( kinda funny cause I have more PSP games than DS games ). When it comes down to it I guess its just a matter of preference and what your going to be using it for... If its strictly gaming the DS is ideal but if you wanted more than just to play games PSP is the best way to go.

I had the privledge of owning both and i sold my ds for a psp even though i liked it alot. the ds has a lack of games targeted to an older audience and although i loved all the cool features on the ds, overall i think the psp has alot more to offer also in the games department the psp's in my opinion has a greater selection exept for rpg's (which there will be alot soon:)) but in my opinion PSP dominates the DS.
and no im not a fanboy this is the first sony gaming system that i have owned

I don't own a DS so take my opinion with a grain of salt...

IMO, I think the PSP is for the more mature audience and DS is for the newcomers.  DS seems to be mostly hello-kitty and kiddy games. From the art-style most of them games uses.  That is Nintendo's target audience and I am fine with it. But as gamers age, they will seek more content, better sound, better graphic, online, etc. That is what the PSP targets. I have been gaming for 20 yrs now. And although I have less time to play the games now, I still like to read about them and occasionally buy a game that I really like and play it. I think I will have more time to game when I hit retirement age. But even that is decades from now. Anyway, the DS is great in its own way and it is cheaper plus seems more durable with the clam-shell design. But in the end, I choose to buy a PSP over a DS cause I can hook it up to my car. Eventually planning to hook it up to a ps3 when I save up enough (after bills, mortgage, insurance, kids, wife) Comparing the sales of the PSP vs DS, yes, the DS is selling a lot. But 20million PSP is not a small number and this is sony's 1st try at the portable market. Damn great 1st try imo.  And I think the PSP cpu is not truely tapped out yet. Look at God of war for the psp. Like sony said recently, they plan to make games that are more exclusive to the psp instead of ports. Either exclusive contents or new IP.  So I think with that said, PSP still got 3-5 years to it. Even if the PSP2 arrives in 2-3 yr, I think sony's record shows that they will still support the PSP with games. Look at the ps2.  PSP is like the ps2 in the palm of your hands (for people like me who have chores and errands to do so I can't sit in front of my tv for too long)

After borrowing a ds from my friend for a couple of days, i think the psp is still better. Sure the touch screen is cool, but the novelty wears off after a while. The games on psp usually have much better graphics and are more fun to play so Also the psp plays movies and music and photos, so can be much more entertaining than the ds.

Well i'll be honest, I consider myself to be the top PSP Fanboy on System Wars and such, but I try to keep an open mind about the handheld war (and system wars in general). I don't own a DS, and if I did im sure if it would be collecting dust behind my growing PSP collection. Im not trying to start a war but I think the majority of DS games just dont have any real depth, which is what I really want. I used to swap handhelds with my friend back at my old school. Happened to like Phoenix Wright, but thats about it, and it was short.

Back in the days when PS1 and DC were in style I was an ignorant kid who bought whatever GBA game looked or sounded cool, but I had a blast with them. Im a tad bit more open-minded now and I want more. If I were to buy a DS the only game I would buy for it is Pokemon. However I played it to death on GBA, and honestly its the same formula right down to the graphics, I really dont want to bother with Friend Codes. My handheld days would be over if Sony hadnt developed PSP.

But it's more than about just games, too. I always got pissed when I saved long and hard for my Game Boy Color and GBA, and six months later theres a new version out, because im stuck with something obsolete. I knew Sony wouldnt do that with PSP, and regardless of the fools who have been spewing this PSP2/PSP Lite crap, the original PSP is still standing and a new one looks a ways off. Something I wouldnt be able to say if I had shelled out the $150 for a DS back in 2004. People say its just a watered down PS2, well, I must be crazy because I don't see that, and my PSP is getting more playtime than my PS2 tenfold. It dosent get the credit it deserves. Alot of the downplay comes from the PS3, due to its demise kids have developed an "hate everything Sony" attitude and PSP is caught in the crossfire.

So do I think PSP > DS? Yeah, anyway.
