Should i get the psp go is it worth it $250

The PSP in general is a fairly dead system at this point. Is it worth $250 ? Probably not. But if you are in need of a versitle, compact system without the need of carrying a pouch and umd's all over the place, well, its not a bad choice, but there are other alternatives, like Itouch that are in the same price zone. Its your money. If it WORTH IT to you is all that matters.

To answer your question though, no, don't buy a Go. For the myriad reasons why, look up one of the hundreds of other times this very same question has been asked... I think I speak for most of the PSP forum regulars when I say that we're all insanely tired of listing the reasons over and over about the pros and cons of a PSP Go vs. a UMD-enabled PSP, especially in light of Sony waffling on the future of this particular itteration of hardware.
Thanks!

Agreed with the exception that I do think the Go is worth the money. This constantly being asked has really made the PSP forums not much fun to be in- there's little talk of games it seems like. And at the end of the day, we're all PSP owners, so arguing over which is the best version of it seems pretty silly.Welcome to the GameSpot forums new-meat, in the future please do a topic search before posting a new topic thread because there are a TON of threads discussing this topic already, and seeing repeating topics makes long-time members irrational and crazy-pissed off. Generally chossing the PSP GO over the PSP 3000 is not a good choice. Ultimately its up to you of course. Not worth the money, and the PSP 3000 is better in just about every way.
Also, if you don't like carrying UMD's around both the 3000 and Go allow for downloadable games. So, the Go is not better in that way as some people seem to think.
The only other pluses for the Go seem to be compact size/design, which I personally find to just be more crampped with a smaller screen.
So, thats my thoughts.
My GO was worth it to me. PSP 3000 is a bulky thing to carry around. I don't carry a bookback since I'm not a child. I don't have a purse since I'm a man. The GO fit's in my pocket wonderfully for the long train rides into the City, and hour long lunch break gaming sessions. UMD's suck as well. The GO is awesome unless you are a child, or strapped for cash, or a pirate. Note, these are all my opinions as to why the GO was the better choice for me. Your mileage may vary, especially if you like JRPGs, which I don't. At All.
got mine used with screen protector, pouch and cradle (useless) for 200. I guess the guy didn't like it. I bought it for a trip I was doing and I load it with music and movies and it was totally worth it, But now that I'm home, I have to say the lack of game on PSN is really a bummer. If I was not travelling so much I would say go for the 3000 for more choice of game and the possibility to buy used games. I still love it I used it mostly as my primary mp3/podcast player for work. I play an 1hour or so a day. the thing is when i'm at home I have a PS3 so gaming on a little device is no match.
No it's not. you have 2 buy all the games from the ps network. with the 3000, you can hunt and buy preowned games, games off the net or even borrow of a friend. And also, the psp go's analog stick is soo in the worng place. however, psp is gettin boring. i havent played on mine in ages. i think you should wait abit. sony must be releasing a new type of psp, not like the 2000 or 3000 a new model altogether with new games
And also, the psp go's analog stick is soo in the worng place.famz_1Joke post? The original's analog stick placement is easily the worst placed game-input ever conceived by man. I can't think of a d-pad, analog stick, or button that has ever been positioned as terribly as the 1000-3000's analog nub. The analog nub on the Go is far superior. It allows your thumb to stretch out and it's tighter (therefore easier to tip-toe in games like MGS: PW).
If you don't have any other PSP sysem (ex: 1000), then you should probably find it for cheap off of eBay or another online retailer.
regardless of price, i don't see what the advantages are. Can't you just get a memory stick for a normal psp?...And the option of UMD games? FeedOnATreeFrogBluetooth, savestates. Two things the old PSPs can't do at all. Another advantage- better controls (while the placement is in my opinion better, the analog stick is much firmer so it's easier to be more precise).
I got my PSP when they first hit the market (1000series) and i play it all the time, so to me its worth it. You should ask yourself how much time will you spend playing it? Do you want to dish out the money on a system that has been out for so long? Are there any games you really want to play?
But in the end it comes down to its your money spend it how you want.

Really how so?
Anyway if you already have a psp 1000,2000, or 3000 don't get a PSP Go because the lack of support for the system over PSN isn't strong enough yet. What do I mean? A lot of new games that came out are still not on the PSN for download and that means you can't get it on the PSP Go. :(
I have one and really like it. Im an older gamer and travel much. What I like; that isnt on the PSP Slim are bluetooth connection, you can play games with a PS3 controller (nice for old PS One games.) It stores games.Idont have to carry the delicate UMD games. The only thing missing (which is BS if you ask me) is the ability to swap out old UMD games with a digital download version.
HOw is this thing STILL $250!? I don't plan on buying it, but it feels like it has already been abandoned and I'm really surprised it hasn't dropped in price. Same goes for the 3000. A lot of DS buyers buy the ds because of the lower, more reasonable price. The second the dsi was announced at $169, Sony should have dropped the 3000 to at least $150, and the Go model to either $169 or $189
Also, if you don't like carrying UMD's around both the 3000 and Go allow for downloadable games. YoBrandinoWait... so I have a noobish question.... I have had a PSP 1000 and have always bought the UMD but assumed I could always download games onto a memory stick from the PS store.... can I? Thanks.

It is a cool looking system for sure. I wouldn't recommend it nor would I get one, but if you have the cash, I don't see why not, if you want one.
The major thing, is obviously, the price. Just considering that $50 more gets you a PS3 or 360 and $50 less gets you a Wii is something I still can't wrap my head around.
Sony sent the Go to die. It's kind of one of those things where you ask, "What the heck were they thinking?!"
But like I said, if you have the money, go ahead. It's your choice, in other words.

It's priced that way because retailers balked at not being able to carry games at first. Now with the "cards" they should drop the price. Beings I already had a PS3, a 360, a Wii, but not a PSP the price comparisons like that are silly. I wanted a PSP, and the extra $ spent for the blue tooth and real portability are well worth it. Also in my opinion all the best games are already on PSN. There really isn't a single game I "have to" play for the PSP that I can't.
As an all around portable multimedia / gaming device the PSP Go is awesome.
instant ban would be very harsh , ,
if they implied that rule id leave this site in a heart beat banned or not!
