Hi all..I'm tired of my DS and

I just got a PSP Slim and I was wondering is the screen protector really necessary ? Do you guys use one or not ?

Also are there any other useful tips for a PSP newcomer ?

Thanks in advance !

NO, bubbles, makes for outdoors worse, and peels off sometimes.

Get a nice case, that way you either take it out of the case and play it, then put it back in, or just leave the case always on.

I have a madcatz case the one that unzips and you just take the psp out, and i got 1 tiny tiny little scratch i got by accident and thats it.

Good luck ;)

I can't see how not to use a screen protector. It is the screen for god's sake! I'd rather lose some view because of a protector than get permanent scratches.

agree...and the worst thing is that you CAN'T replace the screen without replacing the PSP cover itself(i think)...:|

it is necesary, if you put in your backpack or slide in your pockets with keys inside, i put in the early adquisition about 2005 (yes i carry a original 1.5 PSP Phat yet), and i can see a very little bit damage in those this time, for me it cover from my stinky hands and all the grease of my fingers.

exactly what i was going to say.

also, if the screen protector gets some scuffs, you replace it. not too difficult.

After awhile, you will get sick of seeing those nasty fingerprints in the sunlight. The screen protector is good to use as long as you apply it correctly.

Silicon casing could get annoying, too. Won't fit in any of the hard plated or soft cases and it's gets stuck in you pocket, lol.

I've not needed a cover on my PSP1000, only just started using a slim, so we'll see. But yeah, no scratches. For your other question, I leave the games in the slot, I figure the less I open the door the less dust is going to get into it.

I advise you to NOT ever use the PSP screen protector by MAD CATZ! I just tried it and it is virtually impossible to apply without the result of multiple bubbles. And by the time you attempt to readjust it for like the fourth or fifth time the protector is already useless as new dust got attached to it.

I don't know about other brands. There might be some of better quality, which are easier to apply. But I'm getting sick of tryin' them all out. I wasted 10 bucks on that Mad Catz junk, and another protector I bought for my notebook was just the same - bubbled crap! If you're unlucky a screen protector will also leave residue when you remove it.

My recommendation is to take care of your PSP as good as you can and be aware that some superficial scratches are inevitable as time goes by. Most of them can't be seen when the console is turned on anyway.

I bought a "PSP Crystal Armour Case" by Logic3, which is totally fine.
