Seriously.

I have played my fair share on games both console and PC, I am a very experienced gamer playing all sets of current PC and console (Xbox and PS3) games. To my mind I cannot think of a single game that looks as good as Uncharted 2. Yes it can be slightly aliased at times and yes it doesnt play in 1080P but what they have achieved within the limits of the hardware is absolutely staggering. I know most dedicated PC gamers will point out the limits of resolution within the console world but that is kinda of a moot point when you consider all the crap they have crammed onto the screen with such shine.

But in all seriousness can anyone think of a game that looks as good or better than Uncharted 2? And if you say Crysis I will slap you, because I'm not even sure if that beats it, from an artistic point of view. Would have to crunch numbers to compare from a technical though and can you really measure visuals with numbers?

Artistic point of view? When you say that, you`re inviting a lot of room for debate and opinion. Personally, no game looks better than BlazBlue for me, and while many will tell me I'm cheating (2D hand-drawn fighting game), I've essentially met your criteria of judging visuals; it's a game that looks great to me, and "I'm not even sure if Uncharted 2 beats it from an artistic point of view." There's no definitive answer for which games looks the best when you talk about artistic value. As soon as you say those words, everything automatically becomes opinion.

Crysis get over it. Take it to system wars so they can prove it with the thousands of Crysis pics. Valkyria Chroncles has a cool cell shaded graphics style that I prefer over Uncharted 2 at times.

I think Killzone 2's graphics are better but Uncharted 2's may seem like a step up from it because it uses a **** load more colour, kinda hard to compare graphic quality when it's from differant shades of dark and brown compared to every possible colour. If both games had the same colour palettes though I think Killzone 2 would be the victor. This is also an unbiased opinion as I don't really like either of the games ha ha.

Let's not even get Crysis involved.

1. It's not a console game.

2. Crysis is the one PC game all console games get compared to, graphically. If you look at what a $300 dollar home console does without a single hitch/flaw and compare it to a $800+ dollar computer that just about/barely runs this one game everyone's drooling over (unless $1200+ is ok with you), don't you kinda think that's... well, freakin' amazing for a console?

Honestly i love uncharted but the graphics are not THAT good. Crysis is superior in many things, texture resolution, physics, lighting. Dont like it at all however. In any case if you include artistic side then borderlands can might as well win.... you get my point? Be very specific on what you asking for.

Read the thread, TC actually says he haven't seen better graphics on his PC as well. Crysis is not yet topped in graphics even tough it isn't a good game for me personaly (friend has it on a pretty strong computer, but besides graphics, the game has almost nothing to offer). I agree with the ppl saying it belongs to system war as TC was talking about grahics over several systems.

Well, it depends. In this case, are you asking if there are games with better graphics on the PS3 (one could assume that since you're asking on the PS3 forum)? If that's not the case, a lot of people will tell you Crysis is the graphics king. If you ask me, I think U2 is currently the best looking PS3 game to date.

The PC argument need to stop, is ridiculous.

We measuring technical achivements on graphics, as within the limits of hardware to achieve the best graphics experience and performace.

The PC has almost ilimited power as its potential for improvement is continuous.

The Ps3 can't dream on having Damnation on 2560x1600, 60fps, unlimited distance view, 16 QXAA, while a PC could do it, but that doesn't make Damnation a pretty game.

That is why MGS4 got best technicall achivement and graphics of 2008, and unchated 2 will likely get for 2009.

While Crysis warhead is indeed a great technicall achivement, and peharps even more than uncharted2, comparing is impossible until crysis 2 gets on ps3 when we can see wich developers could push the hardware the furthest.

In fact, in terms of Hardware performace Half Life2 episode 2 for PC and the more updated source engine are technically one of the most impressive feats. As is the MW2 engine for PC.

Uncharted looks amazing given the hardware the developer had to work with, looks better then most PC games.

Oh ya the voice acting some of the best i think i ever seen in a game, realy makes all the characters seem real and believable.

Crysis beats Uncharted 2's visuals over the head with a wet sloppy fish. And thats especially apparent by the fact that one is a fairly linear level based game with generally small areas being rendered at once, and the other is a seamlessly flowing open world for the most part. Not to mention Uncharted 2's headache inducing pop-in textures.

Its the best looking game Iv ever seen. There might be better ones from a techinal standpoint, but the variety and detail of settings is quite amazing in Uncharted and everywhere you go just has a real life to it and provides some realy visual interest. Unlike K2 which was great from a technical standpoint but didnt really excite me because the settings were dull.

Umm. 2 CPUs (Dual Core) can run Crysis just fine, it just has to be very powerful. XBOX 360 has 3 CPUs running. But the graphics card is old. PS3 has 7 CPUs running, graphics card about the same as 360. Why can't they make PS3 games with better graphics than Crysis!? :(

From a technical stand point I do not think any game can beat Crysis graphically. Uncharted it's like an ant compared to the elephant that is Crysis.

From an artistic point of view Mario Galaxy kills Uncharted. Uncharted art style sucks because it is way too generic.

Generic places, generic cloth, generic characters(not talking about personalities), generic atmosphere... In fact, everything on Uncharted it's as generic as it gets, even the gameplay. And that's not a flaw, that's how ND wanted to do the game and there's where the beauty of it it's found. An action story like those old action flicks like Indiana Jones that doesn't take itself too seriously... But when talking from an artistic point of view Uncharted shouldn't be mentioned.

both games will look like 4 bit forgottentitles of yeteryear when Kratos hits the ps3. but as far as graphics on the ps3... i dunno i still think heavenly sword and mgs4 shine. same with killzone 2. well look at that, those are all ps3 exclusives too. what are the odds on that? ;)

I don't think Crysis looks better than Uncharted 2, actually. However, I think the gap is actually a lot smaller between all these games. Uncharted 2's presentation is amazing not b/c of minute graphical details, but b/c of camera angle and story pacing that keeps feeding you new and exciting sights. Honestly, the Assassin's Creed series has equally remarkable large-scale worlds, they just have less of those cinematic moments since the games are largely non-linear.

I also think uncharted 2 looks better than crysis...the overall dynamic aspects of uc2 outweigh the beast that is crysis...but i would love to see a 3rd person crysis 2...it would be best shooter of all time..me personally am tired of the fps genre...

The game is 1080p. You have to force it on the ps3 manually.

No thats called upscaling

Uncharted 2 is natively 720p

Plus I tried 1080p and it looks blurry compared to 720p because of the upscaling

UC2 may beat KZ2 in the color department, but when it comes to realistic graphics and lighting, KZ2 is miles ahead.

I hope somebody does a comparison vid on these games, the real differences will be seen then.
