I would say it really depends on the TV and how old it is. I have a Sony SXRD which is a type of rear projection and have no problems at all. I could see issues with burn-in on a 20-year-old RPTV though. That would be all I could think of being a problem.
I have a 65 inch DLP Toshiba rear projection 1080P tv,the only problems Ive ever seen with any rear projection was screen burn in from CRT rear projections and the the first gen DLPs had some lag time between the console and the display on the screen. If you have a rear projection CRT then I would kinda be weary of screen burn in,,if you have a DLP rear projection then I would turn off things like Samsungs DNILE feature or any thing that cleans up the picture,,this slows down the time from the console to the display on the screen. I bought my Toshiba this summer and it has game mode on it,you turn that on and theres no lag time from the console to the display.
I also have a 50 XBR SXRD and the pic and sound are amazing. I have had my tv for almost 2 years and everything with the pic has been ok. The only problem that I am having now is that I have to replace the optical block in my tv which is causing there to be a green blog in the middle of my screen. But that has nothing to do withmy video game playing.PS3 80gb and Halo edition Xbox 360
