has been used? I recently bought a PSP on ebay and it seems as if it was in mint condition, but had a 'tested' sticker on the box and the box didn't seem as if it was never opened. I don't have enough memory to download the Angels and Demons movie onto my PS3 HD, and I'm deciding what feedback to leave since the seller said that the PSP has never been used. Maybe so, but the box was definitely opened before. So basically what I need to know is if there is a way to know if the code has been used before without redeeming it. Thanks.

I would NEVER buy a piece of hardware like a PSP which has integrated controls, etc. off a used site. Who knows what the buttons and stick have been put through prior to getting it, "Site Feedback" ratings be damned. Those can be faked and trumped up so easily by the seller.

What do you mean by this: "Who knows what the buttons and stick have been put through prior to getting it"?

What do you mean by this: "Who knows what the buttons and stick have been put through prior to getting it"?

Over the years the PSP has been out on the market, there have been numerous reports of buttons stopping working and analog sticks getting broken or dirt-infused to the point of contacts sticking. The PSP offered used on eBay might have been owned by an eight-year-old kid prone to temper tantrums or similar unintended abuse to the controls or system over-all. If I was to buy used hardware (which I have done numerous times, don't get me wrong but I learned some costly lessons over the years), I would want to inspect the buttons, screen, etc. before purchase as well as having a place to return it to for service or replacement should something go wrong in the early days of my ownership - So in that case I would rather buy a piece of used hardware from say, GameStop, where I had some recourse after purchase. A handheld isn't like a console, where if the controller is busted you just buy a new one and plug it in, the conrols are stuck into the console. If they're busted or on their way to busted, you get pretty hung out to dry when they go.

Ratings and customer feedback can be faked very easily, so I never take that as any sort of assurance in the transaction when it comes to quality or trustworthiness.

You never know, I guess. And if you feel confident in the deal, then that's all which is important. I was just stating where I stand when making a purchase because I would hate for someone to make the same mistakes I have made in the past.

Thanks for the lengthy explanation. I didn't understand your sentence, but now it's all clear. I agree with you in regards to buying used. I try to stay away from it. I carefully examined the PSP, (Assassin's Creed Limited edition). There were absolutely no signs of wear and tear, not even the tiniest scratch. The buttons work just fine. When I put in the game that came with it, Bloodlines, the system software was updated to 5.5 (now we're at 6.2), so that led me to believe it was really never used. It's the box that indicates it has been opened, maybe not used but definitely opened. Either way, I checked the 10 down-loadable songs I got with the package and they're all there. Sony's site says I have 10 to download. I wanna send an appropriate feedback, since when I asked him he said that it was brand new, never played, which might be the case, but then why is the box messed up? Thanks again for your input....
