Is there a way to set my status on playstation network to appear to be offline?

I was wonderif I can still be on playstation network, yet, set my status to offline. So, I will be online, yet to my friends list it will appear that I am offline? How do I do it if I can?

No but you can set your status to busy by highlighting yourself on your friends list pressing triangle and pressing status and then clicking away.

you cant "appear offline' while remaining online.

You can only be Online, Busy or Offline.

I was wondering that myself , i have selected the offline option but people on my friends list still see me. I had to delete a friend from my list because he wouldnt leave me alone if i wasnt online to play a certain game(wont reveal the game... Im scared lol). So if u are online u cant do anything to appear offline on other peoples friends list?

I wish you could hide your status because some people are just annoying, like the kind who log in and out of the psn every 10 seconds while you are trying to look at something in the upper right corner of the screen.

The only other option is to set up another account and only use it when you want nobody to know your using your PS3.
