is there actually a chance for GOTY??

i mean overall......theres a lot of competition on the wii and xbox

so do u think an exclusive(includes timed exclusives) would take the overall win?? if so, wat game?

I think the Xbox 360 has the GOTY pretty much locked up. Between Halo 3, BioShock and Mass Effect there isn't much competition from any platform with the sole wild card of Mario Galaxy for the Wii. I never discount the power of Mario with the masses, especially when combined with the insane popularity of the Wii. Crysis has a shot for the PC but I don't think it will be enough to beat out the games I already mentioned.

I agree. Crysis looks amazing, my only concern is how many of us will really be able to play it.

Halo 3, whether it deserves it or not, pretty much ensures that there is no competition for GOTY, no matter how good Uncharted, Folklore, Ratchet and Clank, Haze or UT3 lookfs_metal

Yeah it will be Halo 3 - that has the record for highest media sales in the U.S. ever - bigger than any game, movie or book. It beat Spider Man 3 (movies) and the last Harry Potter book - it has the largest release of any media medium ever. $170million in the first 24 hours. I love Halo 3 - but it wouldn't be my first choice for GOTY - but those numbers pretty much have sealed the deal I think.

Also games like Crysis and UT3 won't even be contenders for 2007. 2007 voting is about over - so unreleased games at this point will be in the 2008 awards.

It's kind of sad really - I think for the PS3 - Heavenly Sword should be up there, I actually like that game just about more than any other for 2007. It finally made me like the sixaxis controller. IMO it showed how much better the NVidia GPU in the PS3 is over the ATI GPU in the 360.

HS gave me genuine hope in the future of the PS3.

just because a game sells millions of copies doesn't make it the goty. I think super mario galaxy is going to surprise alot of people. I think epic will take the prize again this year...if not that then crysis will.leon106
