Ive got the 40gig, and im pretty sure its nearly full, but there seems to be no way of viewing this. is there an option in the settings somewhere where you can view how much space youve got left?

also can you install ANY hard drive in ps3? and how do you store the old one, wouldnt it get dust on the disk and be unreadable?

cheers

You can look at it. I haven't checked recently, but I think it's in System Setting >>> System Information. Can't help you on your second question.

For available hard drive space, go to Settings > System Settings > System Information. As for your second question, technically not any hard drive can be put in. It has to be a 2.5" form factor (laptop hard drive simply), and be a SATA connection (not IDE). In short, you need a 2.5" SATA hard drive if you're going to replace your hard drive.

yes but only as that, an external HD. you cant use that instead of upgrading/replacing your current HD. and its way cheaper to put in a laptop HD instead of sending it to SONY.
