Download stuff off of the PS Store while playing a PS3 game?

So far there is no way but it may be possible at a later date with a firmware update. The other night I did have a demo download while the console was folding over night.jimm895

I think he meant you can't download while playing a game online. It pauses the download.

What I mean is that when I download a demo off of PS Store or whatever, and pop Virtua Fighter 5 in to keep me busy till the download is done, the download stops downloading though it still says downloading. Example: Yesterday I downloaded NCAA FOOTBALL 08, after about 5min it was at 28%, so I popped in VF5 to kill some time. Then I quit VF5 about 20min later to check the download and it is still at 28% still said downloading and was at the same MB number. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

i dont get it, i always DL stuff whilst playing games, when i finish played the DL is done... I think only PS1 and 2 games stop the background download...gekidami

Ok, well I'm downloading The Darkness Demo right now, and I'm at 57% and 831MB/1433MB and played a couple matches in VF5 and I'm still at 831MB, also when I left VF5 to check on my download the little spinning download by download management stopped spinning when I went to check. However the downloads don't stop when I play demos. :( Agh... I hope there is nothing wrong with my PS3 :(

I believe if you press Triangle while you are downloading, you can select "download at background" and do whatever you please while it is downloading.shinraz

same for me, when im downloading something and go to play a game the DL pauses. i dont think there is anything wrong with your ps3evans244

When you start DL, go down to the Perform in Background option, VIOLA! But you cant play online while u dl. since it would slow your connection alot!timmotool

I think its my VF5, bcuz my NGS doesn't do that, did anybody else have this problem with VF5?

alright just tested it out with both motorstorm and VF5. motorstorm allowed my download to keep downloading in the background but when i put VF5 in it stopped it... i beleive the reason why is because VF5 makes good use of the HDD and caches information on it hence quick load times opposed to motorstormStupid-Geezer

what about Resistance? I will be getting that pretty soon.

U CANT download demos and play games at the same time !! It just stops when u do that!

But its strange , u CAN play demos and download stuff like u play the demo off heveanly sword and downloading something but when u put a real game like Rainbow six it just stops !!!
