Is there any way to get 720p with the component cables?

Yes...I'm unsure of what you're asking though. Maybe instead of just saying "^ Topic" you could provide some additional info, you'll get much better answers

Yes, component cables support everything up to 1080i. You may need to adjust your PS3 video settings if you want only 720p output.

Depending on the console/TV/media it can also support 1080p. I have my 360 hooked up through component and it registers on my tv as 1080p. The confusion is because not all tv's allow a 1080p signal through component inputs.

Word. I think that's because of pirating laws. Now I think most sets will only allow 1080p through the use of HDMI so that people can't pirate Blu-Ray movies and such.

Yeah the DHCP laws or something like that, but I'm sure it has something to with the media shown. For example while the ps3 can output 1080p through component for games, it may only allow 720p for BD movies.
