Ethernet will always be faster. How significant the difference is will vary for individual connections though, so there's no way to give you a universal answer.

IDK, The new wireless N technology can become faster than ethernet when it's finalized... What do you think?

My wireless router is two rooms away and I still get full signal strength on COD4.

The question remains: is it even out yet though?

What? I don't believe that for a second, either way the PS3 doesn't have Wireless N nor do wireless adapter work with it atm.

You'll always be getting lower pings (lower time delays between you and the game server) with an ethernet connection, you'll also be getting a much higher rate of data transfer; 54mb/s on Wireless (that's if you've got maxiumium signal strength), and 100mb/s via ethernet. This means streaming media from a media server will be a lot faster.

If you can, always go for ethernet over wireless.

Ethernet provides upto a 1gigabit link, wifi (G for most) provides only 54mbps link. Also no N isnt faster than Ethernet. Ethernet uses a shielded cable and thus sends its data in a controlled environment allowing for maximum data transfer with minimum packet loss and delay, wifi sends its signal through anything you have in the way and will confict with any signal in its range including with bluetooth and other wifi appliances which means high packet loss and extended latency. Ethernet is always the best option.

Everything falls back to latency anyway...You will not notice any difference unless you are involved in an online game (like COD4 or UT3) then you might notice extra "lag". Like many of the other posters have said, run the cable if you can; if not settle on wireless.
