I was playing Resistance 2 and my PS3 just turned off and the red light was blinking. I hit the power button and it went into stand by mode. I could turn it back on and everything. I had my PS3 in vertical so did it just overheat or something?

If I'm not mistaken, yes, that is the sign of overheating. Make sure you have plenty of space around the PS3 for good airflow, and maybe you want to consider vacuuming the vents out to get rid of some dust if you haven't ever done so.

Yep it is a bad sigh. But things should be ok aslong as you give your PS3 a nice hug,and then a rub down for dust...and then more.Ahh yes more.Just make sure your PS3 has plenty of space.

So if I just leave it for a while, it should be fine right?

i kinda beg to differ that they're like tanks, at least i can say this for the 80 GB PS2 emulation models. My neighbor just gave 600 bucks for one in late 07' and his blu-ray drive will only play CD format. he thinks the firmware 2.60 put a bug in it but i think it's just coincidence. I smell toast.

I looked the vents...ton of dust. So I cleaned em out and seeing what happens...

EDIT: Well that worked for about 10 minutes before it shut off.

And this is why smart people clean their systems out once a month as well as backing up all their save data once a week. now you owe sony $150 and you lose everything.
