  • 26"(Big enough for my bedroom)
  • Cheap for a Samsung(best lcd brand next to Sony)
  • 480i/480p/720p/1080i
  • 1000:1 contrast ratio(5000:1 dynamic)
  • 8 ms
  • Game Mode(don't know to much about this)
  • 2 HDMI
  • 2 Component

or should I just save up for the 32" Samsung?  The cheapest I saw it was for $1100 on ebay not bad for what you get, but it's just a little over my budget.  Budget is $1000 or less.

HELL NO.. I mean its ok... you can get a 24 inch com. monitor for less than that that does 1080p! so think about that....BluRay only displays on 1080i or 1080p. obviously p is better. Samsung is awsome though.. also Sharp just released a 32 inch 1080p set and it was on sale for 1250 for a while. I imagine other bradns will follow trends.

I haven't been looking at prices recently. I guess I would have thought a 26" LCD would cost less than $1,000. Samsung is a good brand, so that probably has something to do with the price. I would really look at a computer monitor before buying it. Getting a 24" computer monitor is all good, but is it even 16:9? Most computer screens are 16:10. This means that you would have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen when using PS3. Also, 1080p isn't that important when you're talking about screens so small.

1080p at 24 and 32 inches:?, I might be a noob sometimes but I ain't stupid!  I'd rather buy me a cheap, top quality 32" HDtv with a pc input that supports 720p/1080i res for $1250!

32" 720p/1080i >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 32" 1080p in terms of cost and display

For $1,000 you can get a 46" DLP by Samsung.   I have a 56" Samsung DLP and I love it.  It's an amazing set.

He ain't lying. The newer models are generally $1,100 and above, but the older models can be found for $1,000 or less and are nearly as good. This is their older model: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HL-S4666W-46-DLP-HDTV/dp/B000F2P31E/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-2130952-8120913?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1175532181&sr=8-2

I recommend Sharp's LC-32D42U. It's a 32-inch 720p LCD that cost me only $900 at Fry's. And Sharp's one of the top 3 LCD brands, too, and they have better "numbers" in their specs than Samsung (1200:1 contrast ratio, 6ms response time), although that hardly matters. Forget "Game Mode." In fact, forget any of these image post-processing features you find in LCDs. They just ruin the picture and more often than not they are highly distracting. LCDs will always have crap picture quality compared to other TV technologies.

BEWARE SAMSUNG DLP DESIGN FLAWS!!!, March 29, 2007
Reviewer:Redbeard the Pirate "Tech and game fan" (Chicago Suburbs, IL United States) - See all my reviewsConsumers should be aware of serious design flaws which exist in Samsung DLP televisions. Cooling fans and color wheels are highly susceptible to failing. (As a non-techniocal person I should have no idea what these parts are, but alas, I bought a Samsung DLP) Expect these to fail within 1-2 years. Expect to pay approx $400 to replace the color wheel and $200 to replace the colling fan. That is, if your service technician can find them in stock anywhere. These parts are commonly in a national backorder because of the very high failure rates.

You should also expect the lamp to fail sooner than advertized. Many people need to purchase a new lamp between 1-2 years, and some more often than that. The lamp costs approx $150-$250 depending on your model, but you should be able to replace it yourself without too much difficulty. This cost will be in addition to replacement costs for the color wheel and colling fan. Please remember that these maintenance costs are recurring, and you will have to fix them again in another 1-2 years.

While I was very satisfied with the quality and performance of my DLP, my color wheel failed very early. I called tech support to report a grinding noise, and was told to "turn it off", wait 15 minutes, and turn it back on like this would fix the problem. After doing this for a while, the color wheel finally failed, actually shattered! Now I am out of warranty, and Samsung wants nothing to do with me. I have even tried ordering the part myself from two different online vendors, and they are both backordered indefinitely! It has been 6 weeks and they have no estimate for when this part will be available. Samsung cannot even give me an estimate when the supply of replacement parts is expected to meet demand. I have had my TV for 18 months, and apparently there is a national epidemic of them breaking at the same time!

I have a 42" Samsung Plasma which is a beautiful set along with a 26" CRT. Both are wonderful products, but Samsung is selling DLP LEMONS and will not stand behind them. DLP is a great bargain up front, but a maintenance NIGHTMARE! You will pay in the long run, and by the long run I mean every 2 years. If you still want to purchase a DLP television, PLEASE BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY! IT WILL SAVE YOU A TON, BUT YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE CIRCUIT CITY TECH TO FIND PARTS WHICH MAY TAKE MONTHS!

I expect Samsung to abandon their design flaw riddled DLP sector, and focus on their beautiful plasma line. Expect DLP prices to drop even further, but please...LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!

Ignore him. That particular reviewer blows the problems associated with DLPs way out of proportion. Read the other 126 reviews for a real indication of customer satisfaction.

Looks nice, but it's too small for my taste. Also, it's a little expensive for a TV that size.

Just stop..everyone says what they like, is the proven best... NO.. LCD Plasma then DLP..... LCD dominates the market below 46inches, plasma takes over from there, as far as cost goes.. DLP is cheap and big.. you get what you pay for. Awful viewing angle and longevity of the TV itself is poor. I have DLP and LCD. LCD owns 1080p, then DLP then Plasma as 1080p goes since you cant get a 1080p plasma for under a million dollars. But anyway, its all oponion and what you are going to use it for. If you are spending 1000-1500 get the 1080p LCD 32' i dont know what that guy is talkin about, saying he would rather get a nice 720p set for that price at the same size.... dumb... this set has better PQ and the ability to show 1080p. which he says isnt a big deal at such a small screen, but it is. and seeing how bluray only plays on 1080 i/p it is a big deal becuase everyone knows there is a difference between 1080i and 1080p, especialy in movies.. anyway, its up to you.. if you just want big, get a DLP, if you want quality get LCD, if you want Plasma... for some reason... Get plasma.

Plasma always pwns LCD. The picture quality offered by plasma is far more important than a simple resolution upgrade. And even then, in the 42 inches and higher size range, plasmas are available in 1080p and for not much more than LCDs. So you might as well go with plasma regardless.

Yeah, that's a great buy. The older 26" LNS model got great reviews on Amazon & Circuit City, especially from gamers and this one seems to be even better. The price is great too. Don't listen to people talking about 1080p. You won't even notice much, if any difference unless your TV is larger than 32". 1080p is worthless on a TV this size. Samsungs and Sony's Bravia lines have been getting the best reviews ar far as midsized LCDs go.
