This is kinda continuing from my other thread, but not a lot...anyway, this is basically the list I've formed. I prefer open world and sandbox games because I don't have broadband, so I don't have PSN. Just Cause 2 (seems pretty awesome...) Jak and Daxter HD Collection (would've gotten Ratchet and Clank Collection, but it wasn't open world and it costs more...) Ezio Trilogy (I loved AC3, so I this seems like a really good deal) Dead Space (seems like a good scary game) Now, for last 1-2 games, I want some cheap games...like RF: Guerrilla/Armageddon, Mercenaries 2, and a few others like them. Out of those 3, which is the best? I know they're older, but they're only $5 so...it'll round out my birthday list (even though there'll most likely be some price drops by April...). Thanks for any help, and if you any suggestions/changes please list them!

Its a good list and I can't recommend any particularly cheap games, but if I were you, I wouldn't get so many games. You'll race to beat everyone to get to the other one instead of enjoying the hell out of one or two games. Besides, you'll probably want to pick some new game up soon and you'll have plenty of games on that you may have not even touched. Just my two cents.

Ya, just that I didn't get my PS3 'til a year ago, but I still have around 20 games. Plus these will be holding me over for a while since I want to start saving money, possibly for Orbis depending on how it ends up. Probably wait a year for them to work out the bugs anyway if I do want it...they'll probably "officially announce" it very soon (I heard March) and give an estimated release date (late 2013/early 2014), and I am looking at Watch Dogs. But still, I'd rather have 5 old games than 1 new game...

The Saboteur is open-world. It's decent enough. It shouldn't be more than $10. It's like GTA with a WWII setting and you get to kill Nazis.

The Ezio Trilogy is a great start, dead space is not open world as you enjoy but it is a good game nevertheless. I also recommend Yakuza series. ;)

Red Faction: Guerrilla is definitely the best out of those three, though some might favor Mercenaries 2. Just Cause 2 is definitely worth getting, particularly if you love just exploring and goofing around in a massive open world/sandbox environment. The controls aren't as tight and refined as they could be, and it'll take a little while to get used to using the whole grappling hook/parachute combo, but once you get the hang of it, it's ridiculous addictive fun. If you don't already have them, you should also pick up GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year editions, Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third (though, you may want to wait until you can buy the "Full Package" version of SR: The Third for $20), and Sleeping Dogs (another one you may want to wait on, either for the price to drop or for them to release a 'complete' edition with all DLC). Also, inFamous 1 &2 are sandbox games, though there's less of that stuff that makes GTA, Saints Row and Just Cause 2 so much fun. And, of course, they're not for everyone, but there's always the Yakuza games. If you enjoy open world FPS-style games, then there's stuff like Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, and Far Cry 3. Or slightly more restricted open world stuff, like Borderlands 1 & 2 and Dead Island. I'd say do a Google search for sandbox/open world games and whatever looks or sounds interesting, look up some gameplay footage on Youtube and decide if it really looks like something you'd want to play.

First off, shoulda mentioned the games I already have...

Fallout 3:GOTY
Skyrim and Oblivion
SR2 and 3
RDR
CoD: MW1 and 2
Battlefield: 1 and 2
infamous
darksiders 2
sims 3 pets
nfs undercover
madden 11
nba live 10
ncaa football 10
brink
ufc undisputed 09
homefront
ac3

And second, I know it seems stupid doing all this "research" but I like to have a good feel about a game I buy before I buy it, and anyway, I'd like to get the best possible game for me, so I "research". About rushing...that's why I like open worlds. Honestly, I rush through most of my games...then spend a lot more time in the open world. Is there any game like Skyrim? Because and rpg that is open world is harder to find then what I thought...I've heard about Dark Souls, but it doesn't sound as much fun as Just Cause 2, J & D, or the others, plus it's open world but I heard there isn't a lot to do after you beat the game. The Sabotuer sounds pretty awesome. When I say open world game, I mean a) a game like gta/sr, etc. that you can go around and cause chaos in, b) a game like skyrim/fallout 3 that you have plenty of side quests and places to explore after the game. I mean...Infamous is open world, and it was fun playing it, but after the story...there really isn't much to do. This is a reason I want Just Cause 2, as it looks like it has exploration and chaos, along with room for tons of creative chaos, once again why I want RF: Guerrilla or Mercs 2.

And one more thing...to be honest, I don't like JRPGs...mainly WRPGs. The type of rpg I like is like Darksiders 2, an open world rpg, with cool progression that keeps you going along with the looting system, there's side quests and plenty to explore, along with platforming and puzzle elements, and to top it off nice combat and a pretty good story.
