To the OP,
I wouldn't even go that far about MGS4. For one, it's graphics are definitely not on par with UC2 or GoW3. UC2 has the best graphics in any game to date. You don't have to believe me, check out this quote I got from one of the developer's interviews about that game:
"Our characters they typically have eighty thousand polygons in you know, one character, like the main character. In total- what we try to push through to the graphics chip at one point two million triangles that we try to draw every frame. We do a lot using the cell processor."
If MGS4 boasts as many at once on screen, or higher (which it doesn't b/c I have those things in my head called eyes lol), I'll eat my own shirt! No, I'm not a fanboy of those games, to me they were rentals so I didn't bother. I only get the really long games that most people don't have the patience for. I'm still playing DA:O lol.
My point is, maybe you should be asking if they're making any more 3rd person shooter action/rpg/stealth-espionage games with bad acting... It's different strokes for different folks out here, and while I wouldn't mind playing some MGS4 right about now, I'm nowhere near fanboy status. I won't dare to compare MGS4 to other games with, what I feel, are better gameplay mechanics and better graphics. I will do that if they are in the same genre though lol. I think the problem is there just isn't enough stealth-espionage games out there for PS3. For now MGS4 is the leader in it's tiny little club for PS3. I will say, nothing so far beats it's length and depth of rpg-ish elements.
To answer your question though... Yes I believe that this gen will blow MGS4 out of the water. Take your pick, all those juicy 3d/move games or online rpg's (FINALLY!!!) coming to PS3. My money would be on Crysis2's engine as far as graphics go this generation, but I lost faith with port-overs. None of those clowns ever try to use the cell-processor, so their games run like crap on PS3. I would keep my eye on the exclusive titles coming out though.More than a few PS3 exclusive games push the graphics bar up.
As far as gameplay goes, my money is most definately on Sorcery. Flame me if you want for it, but I have a crush on games that are intuitive and funny at the same time.
