I got it today...
It's not bad...
Not spectacular but it isn't bad...
It isn't wireless which kinda sux...
But the game is good...
I wish I had 2 Guncon's for 2 player mode...
Biggest problem (imo) so far:
The 'gun design' "doesn't support screen sizes greater than 50 inches."
I know this all has been in development for a long time, but they should've foreseen this eventuality imo.
Sucks if you use a front projector (my primary display delivers an image ~197 inches on the diagonal).
Trying to 'invent' a kludge fix that will work & not obstruct view, sigh. Anybody figure out a good workaround?
Fwiw, I mounted (i.e.: 2-sided tape) the led emitters on the wall just above the image; while x axis 5-point calibration works for the 1st 3 targets across the top, gun drops out of reception range (led lights) while aiming @the bottom y axis points. Argh.
And fwiw, if I move the led emitters about1/3 down from the top of the projected image (~5.7 feet from the bottom of the image) & stand ~11 feet back,it all performs pretty well.
Of course, the emitters (& wires, needed a usb extension cable) are now within the displayed image. So it looks like there are 'a few pixels out' (given the overall screen size, this is almost tolerable but definitely a kludge). Painting the cables white might be less obstrusive.
& btw, the emitters don't need to be hooked to the ps3; you can hook them to a powered usb hub (completely disconnected from the ps3) & they seem to work fine, the hub is just a glorified wall-wart.
I don't know how the hardware works exactly, but perhaps emitters that had a greater 'vertical spread angle' (as well as higher-strength for increased range) might be the ticket? It'd be nice if the designerswere to provide a better solution down the road, guess this is what it is for now.
So I got a 50-inch tv - are you saying that it doesn't allow any room for a "frame"? Around the picture is about 1 inch of the tv holding the screen. Not sure what you mean, but haven't seen the product in the store to understand the setup yet.
I will probably buy it when price drop - I have played 1-3 in arcade halls. Does it support online? If they did that I would buy it in a heartbeat to play with my brother (lives far away) would be like old times except I would save a few quarters :)
