I have only had my PS3 for around a year and more and more people are talking about this YLOD, I mean I take good caremy PS3 but am worried about this YLOD thing.

Is this something to worry about, I mean is it affecting every PS3, is it as bad an issue as Microsoft had with the RLD???

My 80 gig is still holding up after a year. RROD is for the 360 not the PS3.

Seems like the only PS3 that really gets it are the 60 gig versions. I am not say all the others are immune to it but the 60 gig is the main one I see.

It's not RRoD bud. The PS3 has no rings on it. Also, it's not common for the PS3 to get that problem.

It's YLOD. RROD for the 360.

He said RLD. I was correcting him on that.

What he said was right, it was just a mis-spelling. Anyways, most of the friends I have with 60 gigs haven't had a YLOD yet and they had theirs for months.

I got my 60 GB in November of 2006. Lasted strong until August 2009. YLOD hit me, I paid $150, and within a week or 2 I had a new 60 GB. So to answer your question, yes, it is still an issue.

If you buy one of the newer PS3s it is not going to be a HUGE issue. Infact the only real big problem the PS3 has is with its firmware updates.

Thanks for the info, puts my mind at rest a little knowing it isn't such a big issue most of the comments have been reassuring.

Thanks

I bought a 360 and got RRoD twice and my brother in law had 5 fail him. We both switched to PS3s only. After buying 4 different PS3 models for my home and knowing other people with 4 PS3s I know of 0 out of 8 PS3s failing.
