Is it still worth playing uncharted 1, or is number 2 all i need...?

the first wasn't bad, but the second one was a lot better gameplay wise. I'd suggest it, but don't go in expecting everything to be like the second.
Yeah it's very good and it argueably has a better story than number 2, in my opinion. It isn't Uncharted 2 gameplay wise but it still very solid and it is very cheap now.
I asked myself the same question (i got U2 a year ago and wanted to get U1 before U3 comes out), but then i went for it seeing as U1 is very cheap. I'm currently in chapter 14 in U1 and i have to say that it was definetly worth it. It's not only a great game, but it also has a great story that will help you understand the relationships of the main characters.
Uncharted 2 came with my PS3 bundle I got on Black Friday 2010. I played it, beat it and thought... man, if Uncharted 1 is half this good, I'll be happy. And happy I was. It's not Uncharted 2 (as everyone is saying), the gameplay isn't quite there, the scenery gets tiring after 8-10 hours and... spoken like someone who has platinum'd the game twice now... it's actually much less forgiving than Uncharted 2 on harder difficulties. It's unreasonably frustrating at times. But it's a damn good game in it's own regard.
If you liked the second, you'll at least find something to enjoy about the first and for the $15 or so price tag these days... it's well worth the price of admission.
Uncharted 1 does not have as much polish as Uncharted 2, but I actually prefer 1. Even though I know 2 is a better overall game, I like the harderdifficulty of 1 better.

One of the things I hated about 'Uncharted 1' was having to empty pretty much an entire clip into a guy wearing shorts and a tank-top before he'd go down. What kind of drugs were these bastards hopped up on?
Yes definitely. Playing through Uncharted 2 made me remember some awesome parts from the first one, which are a lot. I feel like Uncharted 2 has you playing in a lot of closed off sets, and then there's a small script or cutscene, and then another closed set. To me, Uncharted 1 has a lot better flow throughout it's levels. UC2 was still awesome though.
