Jak & Daxter, Sly or Ratchet & Clank?

I only have enough to buy one trilogy at the moment, which one is best in your opinion? The Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper or Ratchet & Clank Trilogy?

Which one should I get?

Jak & Daxter. Love all of them, but Jak & Daxter series is one of the best ever, and it's my personal favorite in fact.

Jak then Ratchet and I can't rank Sly since I have yet to play the games.

Jak & Daxter for sure, then Sly, then Ratchet & Clank.

I only like Ratchet and Clank out of them, so definitely Ratchet and Clank.

I'd say Jak trilogy would be the best. I've only played the Sly HD collection but that's because I already played the Jak and Ratchet games during the PS2 era and the Jak trilogy still stands out to me as the best of the 3 trilogies.

Jak and Daxter

Personally, I would say...

Sly Cooper > Ratchet & Clank > Jak and Daxter

All three series are superb so any collection is worth your money but that's the order I'd recommend. If you're interested at all in multiplayer though, Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal has online multiplayer. Just throwing that out there.

Sly Cooper is kinda different from Ratchet and Jak. It has more stealth mechanics than anything else. It depends on what you like in a game but I would pick Ratchet because all the Ratchet games seem to be very well received.

I went for Sly because I like stealth. :) I'll probably get the other two in the future aswell.

I love the Sly games the most. The stealth gameplay and the whole setting is just very cool to me.

I'm surprised ppl are saying mostly jak and sly. Both have better stories than ratchet, but honestly all the ratchet games (save for the very first one) are better playing and action-packed than sly/jak, and b/c of that more fun.

If you want to have the most fun, play the ratchet games. If you want story, go with jak 2/3 (jak 1 had little to no story, mostly platforming gameplay) and the sly games. If you want a challenge, go with jak. If you want super light stealth, go with sly.

There was a thread not too long ago (I would say 3-5 months ago) where people were asked which was the better franchise between jak and ratchet, and about 80% of people picked ratchet, and I agree with them. Ratchet beats jak in terms of gun-play, weapon-upgrading, replayability, and, in my opinion, humour. Jak, as a series, has better platforming elements, but only b/c the platforming in ratchet is very light/easy, even sparse.

I've played almost all the games, except ratchet UYA/deadlocked and sly 3 (which I'm playing at the moment), and I can say for sure that ratchet is the more fun franchise - it just has better action.

Jak3>Jak1>jak2 (jak 1 beats jak 2 b/c jak 1 is just more adventurous and has better platforming, and b/c jak 2 was just such a bad GTA clone - sorry).

Sly 1> Sly2 >Sly 3 (so far...again, in terms of fun).

Ratchet and Clank, only because the collection will include multiplayer.

*Agrees* totally agree man. Sometimes we can't listen to reviews - the reviewers really did buy into the hype of that one. Or were bought off? Who knows. J2 was basically a stripped down GTA

Ratchet and Clank, although I don't have much experience with the Sly games.

I loved the original Jak and Daxter, but I didn't like the way they took the sequels. I have nothign against darker games, but gritty was not the direction that franchise needed to go, obviously I'm a minority with this opinion though as the sequels were both incredibly well recieved. I did also thoroughly enjoy Daxter on PSP though.

Good decision with Sly but if you are planning on getting the other collections I will let you know that though the Jak collection is indeed playable it's missing a lot of the affects that were present in the PS2 original, some attack based while some in the background, for example in the night sky you wont see stars or moon. For me it takes away a lot of the charm so I personally wouldn't recommend it. As far as Ratchet goes no complaints, its as good and well made compared to PS2 versions as the Sly collection is, plus unlike the other collections it also includes multiplayer with up to 8 characters.
