I would pick a JRPG over WRPG, but I still like both. I just like story driven more, but I also like endless amount of side missions also in a WRPG. But I like them both a lot.

Well, I kinda agree with you there, JRPGs were better back then, now they kinda all suck. All the good ones are usally on DS, not another system (aka Dragon 4-6 and 9, Golden Sun:Dark Dawn, Final Fantasy 4, etc.....)JRPGs were good in the day ... aka, FF7, but now they are lame and always have a metro wuss main character.
WRPGs .. FTW!!

as far as this gen goes, Wrpg all the way. imo oblivion and the fallout games and dragon age have been a lot better than any Jrpg's iv played this gen. MUCH better. How ever i love the old school Jrpgs like ff6-9,crono trigger, earth bound, xeno gears, skys of arcadia ect. in fact ff6 is my fav game of all time ;)
Every WRPG I've ever played is either completely boring or lost it's sheen very quickly with me, unless you consider Diablo 2 a WRPG. I'll take JRPG anyday but that's just me.

Final Fantasy Versus is the last hope for JRPGs. This entire gen has been nothing but mediocre games. I find this not only in JRPGs but in Japanese games in general. There is the little things that make me wonder just wtf has happened this gen, such as for example, the intro song "Indestructible" in Street Fighter 4. There are more, but for the sake of staying on topic, WRPGs > JRPGs.
There are a lot of great Japanese games this gen. In fact, out of 5 GOTYs since 2005, only Gears of War in 2006 and Red Dead Redemption in 2010 are Western made games. Demon's Souls (the only RPG to win GOTY since... WoW), Metal Gear Solid 4, and Super Mario Galaxy are all Japanese made.Final Fantasy Versus is the last hope for JRPGs. Ummm, what GOTY are you talking about? 2006 GOTY = Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. 2007 = Bioshock. 2008 = Grand Theft Auto : IV 2009 = Uncharted 2 and 2010: RDR. Yes those games are great, amazing to be exact, but they are the only few good titles this gen, unfortunately.
Depends on the console really. I'd rather have my wrpgs on my computer, and the jrpgs on the PS3. At least on the pc you can mod games like Oblivion and Fallout 3. That definitely helped make those games better for me personally.

Nope:
Tales of Graces F
Tales of Xilia
The Cursed Crusade
Dark Souls
Final Fantasy 13-2
Persona 5
Shin Megami Tensei (Not Persona)
Kingdom Hearts 3
On Topic: Right now I think WRPG > JRPG, but I'm personally liking the future JRPG line up more than the WRPG line up(This is all consoles only)
