Jumping from god of war 1 to 3?

so i have god of war 1 on the ps2 and im nearly gonna finish it do i have to beat gow2 to understand 3?

According to the other 6 or so threads on this topic, not really. I think IGN did a GoW1&2 in 5 minutes though, if you want a brief but informative version of the general story.

I think it's a shame that you would skip GoW 2 just to play GoW3. Play them all.

I went from 1 to 3 myself and it is a huge leap. It's overwhelming at times but you are forced to learn quick. It's an amazing game though.

im playing GOW2 right now myself and waiting to play 3. Im almost through the game and i highly recommend playing it. Its an awesome game not worth skipping just to rush into another game!

You can go to wikipedia and read the story there, but it's really a shame to skip GOW2; it's an awesome game.

I would personally recommend playing it, GoW 2 is yet another excellent game and will make 3 seem even better since you'll really understand why he's even more pissed off!

I would honestly argue that God of War 2 is the best in the trilogy. It really is a masterpiece with a bunch of Holy $h%t moments. No question in my mind that it is the best game of the PS2 era.
