After hearing about the discontinuation of the best ps3 model and almost all places are selling out the 60gb model I bought one today and I'm very glad I bought it. I've got a few questions though...

1) Am I able to use ps2 controllers?

2) Is there such thing as "bricking" like the psp after upgrading your firmware or anything?

3) Since this model is already not in production, if mine spoils during the warrenty period, will I get back the 60gb model or a newer one?

4) I'm a single player person, so what kind of games now other thanrachet isout now orsoon that is nice?

Thanks. Will add my psnidhere soon, hope to make some friends!

1. i dont believe u can connect a ps2 controller. DONT BUY ANOTHER PS3 CONTROLLER, wait for the vibrating dual shock 3 to come out.

2.no bricking.ps3failurer rate is about 1% as opposeto30%with the 360.

3.u will probably get a 80gb because they are no longer producing the 60gb.

4.goodsingleplayergames:oblivion,ratchetandclank,drakesfortune.PSNgames:everydayshooters,supderstardustHD.asformultiplayer:thereiswarhawk,andresistancealsohasgoodmultiplayer.

Ah, so it'll suk if my 60gb failed on me some time down the road. Anyways, I'm about to update my fw but I have a v unstable connection. If I click on the update icon, will I update from the server or download first? If it updates from server directly and I dc halfway will the ps3 brick?

i dont recall hearing any stories of people bricking their ps3s. when u click on update it will download the update first and then install it. if u dont update u wont be able to connect to the internet. so first thing update ur ps3 and then create PSN account and enjoy ur ps3

Dont worry, you download an install file first, and once it's fully downloaded you can start installing it.

And yes, it is possible to brick the PS3 (like any other system), like if you turn it off during FW update. But it's a robust toy, so you shouldnt need to worry.
And if it was to brick during a system update, you could just format the HDD to get it working again, but you'd lose your saved data.

1. yes but you have to buy the controller adapter, but there is no point to that just buy another sixaxis or wait until the DS3 comes out (Spring 08) or just import one from JP (Nov. 11 i think)

2. the firmware updates work perfectly, for me atleast, but some say that they have internet connection issues after certain updates but they are usually fixed right away

I got a funny story, I have a 60gb and one time I turned off the PS3 when it was downloading something I think...well the PS3 stopped playing DVD and Blu-ray movies when I was signed on to the PSN. And the PS3 would beep at me everytime I turned it off. So I called Sony and they sent me the box, when the box got to me....somehow the PS3 fixed itself and was back to normal. I still have the box, probably won't ship it back to them.

Soooo, don't turn off your PS3 if you areever downloading something because it is accessing the HDD and can screw something up. I don't care what other say I make sure the PS3 is not doing ANYTHING when I turn it off for now on.
