Just bought a PS3 :)

I just got one, and I am wondering what games I should get. I know everyone will suggest GTA, and I prob will get that. But I think I will wait on it a bit, i'm just wondering what other ps3 games are worth checking out.

I really wanted to play Final Fantasy 12 and God OF War II but I have the 40 gb version, any way around that?

thats rediculous, I dont believe that I would have to re-buy a ps2 just to play two games that I missed out on before I sold it.. especially after spending so much on a ps3. well, thanks.

Awesome! Welcome to the family. Here's a list of good games: GTAIV, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Devil May Cry 4, Call of Duty 4 Unreal Tournament 3, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, The Orange Box, Metal Gear Solid 4(Coming Soon), Final Fantasy XIII and versus XIII. There's many more but I'm getting tired of typing.

Oblivion is great on PS3. But as for how ridiculous you find the lack of BC in the 40GB to be, well, the fact that the 40GB model lacks PS2 BC is not exactly a hidden dirty secret. All you had to do was conduct some basic research, and you could have found a 60GB used, or waited for the 80GBs to work their way back into rotation at retail.

If you like music/rhythm games, Rock Band is a sure bet.

Regarding Oblivion, word of the street is that the PS3 version is the better of the console versions.

As for your 40GB not playing PS2 games, that's how it works. Like I was saying in another thread last week, Sony offered PS3s with BC, and people complained about the price and it needing a price drop. They had to cut corners somewhere so that they don't lose any more money per console; thus the PS2 CPU and GPU were cut, eliminating PS2 BC in the process.

Call of duty 4 is great, the single player is good and the multiplayer is phonominal. I got 200 hours out of the multiplayer befroe I sold it. I wish I still had the game but needed the money for gta4.

Uncharted was realy cool but way to short. I rented it and beat it in 4 days. Not worth $60 or even $50 when I rented it for $7 and finished it. The game don't have much replay value.

Orange box was good and worth the money.

Meh, it's oblivion. Somewhat improved graphics, and a one-disk GOTY version.

I do think this is the best time to buy a PS3, welcome to the family!

I suggest Uncharted, Oblivion GOTY, Resistance, CoD4, UT3, RSV2, Motorstorm for a rent.

When they come out: Haze, Resistance 2, MGS4, KillZone 2, Heavy Rain, and Fallout 3.

So many good games for PS3 man...

1. GTA IV- That's an absolute no brainer.

2. Call of Duty 4- The best FPS I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Fantastic online multiplayer.

3. Warhawk- The most fun online game I have ever played. This game is NUTS! Explosions and battles everywhere. Great balance.

4. Rock Band- The best party game ever made. No question.

5. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune- The best graphics I've ever seen in a video game. Excellent storyline and very likeable main characters.

6. Ratchet and Clank- It's like you're playing a cartoon with super badass weapons. Excellent sense of humor. This was my first experience with the series and I am definitely sold.

7. The Orange Box- Pay no attention to the supposed "flaws" in this game. The patch for the game addresses whatever framerate issues the game had. Regardless...a fantastic bargain.

8. Oblivion GOTY Edition- If you like American style open ended RPG's then this takes the cake.

9. Tekken Dark Resurrection Online- If you have a good broadband connection and you like fighting games, you'll LOVE this! Plenty of people online to play against.

10. Devil May Cry 4- Fast, fluid, stylish, and responsive third-person action. A PlayStation favorite!
