I had a DS Lite that I traded in at EB and picked up a black PSP Ratchet and Clank bundle. I've been putting off getting a PSP for too long and started to envy my co-workers as I watched them play. I actually just started to charge the system for the first time. Do I need to wait for it to fully charge before turning it on?CaptainCrazyGood on you, friend.
Congratulations, however dont make the mistake of buying crap games for it. Ive had a PSP for about 2-3 years, so let me tell you the games I enjoyed:
Ace Combat X
Final Fnatasy Crisis Core
God of War
SOCOM US Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo 2
Syphon Filter Logans Shadow
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Killsone Liberation

You cant really go wrong with these ^
Look out for:
LittleBigPlanet PSP
Motorstorm PSP
Rockband PSP
Resistance Retribution

The trick is to focus on PSP games directly made or heavily supported by Sony itself. Ive played others, like GRAW, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Rainbow 6 and they werent very good ports IMO. You may want to check out Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron. Its not for everyon though.
Oh, and upgrade to a decent memory card, like 4GB (or 16GB on amazon, if you really want movies)
Heres the link for a free PSP-movie connverter, straight from Sony:

Keep in mind that you have to make individual folders on the memory stick via your computer to store music, photos, and videos, hence you need a USB cable.
I actually prefer my PSP to my iPod, lol, just keep in mind that the system is designed to add/expand your PS3/Xbox, not replace it. And so store all your real media there and use the PSP for streaming (in case you have a PS3) or for storing a movie or two.
Enjoy

nice list, also might want to pick up madden 09, grand theft auto liberty city stories, and ratchet and clank is a decent game.I havent been able to find the black psp 3000 Ratchet bundle anywhere in town, only online. -Despacio-Man, come to Delaware. We have a scarcity of 3000 core packs, but tons of ratchet bundles and 2000 core packs.
Hey, thanks for the warm welcome and very helpful info. I wasn't sure if I needed a USB cable but I realize now that I cannot connect the PSP to my PC's network via the wi-fi router. And I had a hell of a time finally getting the PSP to connect to the internet but it suddenly started working and I went on a downloading spree. It's just so cool to be ablle to access so many features from this little device. It's like having a really cool gaming PC in the palm of your hands. Loving this thing already. And I hear you about the games. I know there is a lot of stinkers out there so I'll do my homework and appreciate your suggestions.Congratulations, however dont make the mistake of buying crap games for it.
