it was a "meh" for me. i got really frustrated with this game by the end because of so many puzzles that gave you
no clue whatsoever to tackle them. i love puzzle games(portal 1/2) but this game's puzzles are horrid.
the ending really surprises you though.
I was excited for the game and bought it.
The graphics were great, but the game had alot of problems for me, it felt like the developer had made alot of "Rookieisque" mistakes, not explaining some parts of the game clearly.
For instance theres a part where you are suppose to use a goblins bombs to take out a barrier, i understood what i had to do, but i didnt know how to do it.
I grabbed them and it just killed the goblin and dropped the bomb when i needed it by the barrier, for 30 minutes i was stuck on something stupid because it didnt tell me not to touch the analog stick while doing this.
There was another part i got stuck because i simply needed to kick myself off of a wall to get past a gap, but it never explained that i could kick off a wall, i had to look at the internet again just for something miniscule like that.
Then once again i get stuck on a boss fight, i fight him for 30 minutes before i get frustrated and look at the internet, as it turns out its impossible to do anything to him at first, you simply have to stand still at the start of the fight and he throws something at you, then you catch it with the quick time buttons and throw it back at him.
At this point i just dropped the game, it just didnt do it for me.
It looks great, and everyone else likes it though, just my thoughts.
Im a huge castlevania fan, and ill admit I was pretty skeptical of the game at first since it distanced itself from everything i loved about castlevania. But after playing it though I thought it was great, it may not be what we are used to gameplay and castlevania wise, but it had a feeling all its own and great atmosphere and pacing. Sure it has a few problems like the others mentioned such as some awkward angles where its hard to base where you have to jump and a lack guidance of what your supposed to do for some puzzles, but i felt the positives like the combat and other aspects far outweighed any of the problems it had. Check some of the user reviews too to get a few more opinions on it, overall it was a terrific game, i feel most people are too harsh on it though, mainly because of those few faults and the fact it didnt really do anything significantly different, but i say its well worth it so i hope you enjoy it TC.
It's a big change from old Castlevanias, but it's a good game. I liked it.
I'm not sure I'd want to support it a second time because it's not what Castlevania should be like.
But remove the brand, and it's a great game. Like FFX (great game, bad FF).
