I mean what would you rate gameplay, graphics, art, atmosphere etc ?
I just finished GOW3 and now a RPG that will last me is in order, is it any good ? I got it half price

Perhaps your best bet is to just play it. ;)
It has great gameplay and is very challenging and addicting.
I got platinum from this and my advices is to be careful, block, learn enemies fighting patterns and get used to DIE!

Do you return as a ghost and keep playing if you die ? Or is it gameover and reload ?
I will have the game in about 1 hour :), cant wait, i love the huge bosses and i always loved this team games, exactly because are more WRPGs than JRPGs

There are definite penalties for dying, but they are reasonable, IMO. If you die you start back at the begining of the level and you drop all your souls on the floor (which is basically currency used for buying gear, upgrading gear, and leveling your character). If you die AGAIN before reaching the spot where you died (called your bloodstain), you lose all those souls permently. Oh ya, and all the enemies respawn.
One nice thing though, is that most levels have shortcuts that you can open up when you get towards the end which will save you time in going through the entire level again to reach the boss yet again.
There is also the whole body form / soul form (50% HP) thing, but i'm not gonna try to explain that. Basically just assume you will be in soul form most of the time because it is so easy to lose your body from any death and difficult to get your body back.
I love demon's souls. I personally found it extremely challenging, but never frustrating, cheap or unfair. I also tend to get easily frustrated with hard games, so this was very very suprsing to me. It rewards patience and tactical combat. Good luck and have fun!
i personally still want to get this game, i love it. i love games with lots of challenge and i love the gameplay for this game.
expect extreme frustration because of the many deaths you will have, like others have mentioned in the thread.
have fun with the game, and dont go hacking away at monsters, learn their moves, and make sure you guard, dodge, and attackat the right times.

I think a lot of people have mentioned this, but to die LOADS
Expect tears coming out of your eyes, both of happiness(winning those epic boss fights, or finding a rare item) and sadness(losing a bunch of souls)

Idont understand the soul system, cant you just use up the souls you get ? So when you die you get to keep any stat upgrades ?
BTW i got the game and will start it right about NOW !!! :)

Say you kill Baddie A and he drops 20 souls. Well you collect those souls and then you come up to Baddie B and he kills you. You will die and the 20 souls you gained will drop to that spot on the ground. You now revive at the beginning of the level with 0 souls since the 20 souls you had are on the ground where you died. Now this is where the difficulty and unforgiving comes in. Baddie A and B are both respawned as if you JUST entered the level. Now you have to kill Baddie A again to get to your body which is near Baddie B. If you die by either of these before you pick up the souls on the ground you will lose the ones that dropped from your first death. Thus the pain and anger begins.
Any points you spend will be permanently gone. You stats will not drop from dieing, BUT there is a boss that will literally suck the stats from you, but hes near the end so no worries.
I just got it yesterday and played the tutorial this morning (I didn't feel like going to class today :P) seems pretty fun. Seeing people run around in the game is really cool. And although the message leaving thing didn't make sense to me while reading the reviews, it seems perfect considering the story of the game. In fact, I'm about to play it right now! :D

Yeah, but sometimes you happen to have lots of souls in the middle of a stage, and someone could invade you or an enemy kills you. If you don't make it to your bloodstain in your next try, you will lose it all..
I love challenging games, and have read only good things about the game
When i die, can i keep playing as ghost form or something ?
theseekar
yes. In fact, i strongly suggest you play as a ghost throughout the entire game. The reason for that is if you die in your living body form in any world/level -except the nexus, which is essentially your HQ- the world tendency (difficulty) of that level will get darker (harder).
Refer to the wiki for more info about world tendency (WT). It's crucial that you know exactly how it works if you are interested in collecting all of the special weapons and armor and seeing all of the special events.

TC, take a note about invasions: you can only be invaded if you're playing online. I suggest playing the game offline, and only signing on if you're stuck at a particular part/boss and need help from other players which you can summon via blue soul signs on the ground. Also if you playing online, other people can affect your world tendency (which i talked about in the post i made above). Refer to this page of the wiki for more about invasions and summoning allies. and yes, you yourself can invade and/or be summoned by others.
I will play as mage first time, do i get to use magic to full extend ? I guess he is the one to do it

You can play with whatever character you like, but a mage doesn't have any mana recovery accessories at the start of the game, so you'll have to buy "spice" in the nexus if you'll want to replenish your mana in the middle of a level (i believe you'll start off with 5 spices already in your inventory). And also if you consider how scarce souls (the currency of DS) are that early in the game, a mage class might be more of a hindrance than a strength, depending on how prudent you are in terms of mana management.
You can start as a royal since that class has an effective starting magic spell (soul arrow) and a mana recovery item. Plus this class isn't too shabby in terms of melee either.
To answer your question: you'll have the chance to shape your character in whatever way you see fit as the game progresses, so that royal that i mentioned can become a powerful mage and use all of the magic skills (even if the class name won't change). This also supports the argument that you might as well give yourself a small break at the outset of the game by starting with a class that has magic and can automatically recover its mana (albeit slowly). The game will still kick your A$$ anyway, so a little cushioning in the beginning isn't so bad even for challenge seekers :P

Nice tips, thanks, i am trying to start the game and still did not have the time damn !!! I am making an XNA 2D RPG and takes away 99% of my day, but now i am getting to it finally, i guess is better that i did not start as a pure mage then :)
Are you sure i can get all spells later ? That is all i care about really

oh, cool. how's it coming along?
anyway, yes. i assure you with 100% certainty you will be able to learn ALL spells regardless of starting class. However, to learn ALL of the spells and collect all of the unique weapons in the game you'll need play a minimum of 4 game cycles (your current cycle and 3 more after that). The reason for that is some spells can only be learned by trading in a major demon (boss) soul, which you can obtain once per cycle from each boss, to whomever you want to learn a spell from, and sometimes, these teachers may require the same major demon soul. Once again, refer to the wiki about how all of that is done (and how to rescue the tutors who will teach you high level magic).

DAMN !!! There is so much into this game :). I guess it was a nice choice over Mass Effect 2, which i will buy later at lower price too
I am more into medieval games actually anyway
So, you rescue the tutors first ? That is some impostant info there

You won't be able to rescue all of them in the beginning; read the wiki for details. There are only 3 tutors that need to be rescued (in 1-3, 3-1, and 4-2). All of this is optional, so don't expect the game to guide you to each one of them. Meaning, if you want to learn all of the spells, you'll need to work for it.
Except massive dissapointment for the lack of foliage.
Oh and get ready to be invaded by me
Seriously though, I recommend you check some guides before tackling the game, there are some little things that if you screw up, you'll have to wait for the next playthrough to fix.
Use your head, don't rush (or you'll learn this the hard way), read messages and be patient :)
