I unplugged my component cables, and plugged in my PS3 with a new HDMI cable I bought.

For some reason, when I turn on the PS3, I can hear the game, but the screen is black? What could be causing it? I borrowed my friends HDMI cable and the same thing is happening. Is my PS3 broken? Its pretty dusty, could that be affecting it?

Thanks

J

Sounds like you can verify maybe try this:

A. Check ur cables sounds like ur video is conflicted, but ur Audio is correct.

2. Plug ur old cables back in, verify. If 5X5 change the console Video settings to 1080p or i or 720 whichever you intend to use, shut down, Plug in new HDMI cables, turn back on with the HD settiings and verify.

Lastly. Use your Optical Audio if u have an Optical input on your reciever, that makes all the difference. GL

The reason I got the HDMI was because my component cables weren't letting me switch out of 480i. I posted the problem here and you guys said to get a HDMI. Ill try the 10-second power on button trick, and Ill get back to you in a few minutes.
