Just bought my ps3 - Major disappointment and sixaxis question

First of all, i gotta say that the console is ahead of its time. I am amazed by the things you can do with it. I can't wait till tmr to buy a component cable and install linux. This is the main reason why i bought it now, to install linux and start programming for the cell, my final year project at my university will be programming for ps3 :P Anyway, I didn't buy any games with it, because I am not interested in any game yet. My disappointment came when I tried to use the playstation network... I live in Greece and ps store is not SUPPORTED HERE!! It's unbelievable, half of the fun isn't available to me... I don't know what to do, and I can't do anything to tell you the truth, just be patient to see a brighter future. What I did for now, is I made a US account and started downloading demos and other free stuff, but I can't buy anything... I don't think it's Sony's fault, I am 100% sure that it's Sony Greece which is responsible for this. I just wanted you to know how much Greece sucks, never come here, not even for vacations, lol...

 Anyway I also wanted to ask you about the Sixaxis battery. How do I know if the battery needs to be charged? And what can I do to extend its lifespan? First time you used it, did you had it plugged to the usb so it charged?

you can press the ps button and the upcoming screen tells you the charge level, and yes they blink when the battery is running out.

As for the PSN store i know how you feel mexico isnt supported as well and i cant buy any downloadable games, i think i might have to make some deals with some friends in the us to use their accounts to download games

omg, not even mexico... Mexico has 10 times more population than Greece, I think Greece will never be supported, damn... I am gonna ask a friend from uk to use his credit card, but uk store is very slow compared to the us store...

About the sixaxis, do you keep it plugged in the usb when you leave your ps3 idle, or you don't charge it all the time? 

PSN isn't support in greece? ouch that sucks! You coud always make multiple accounts form different countries to access their PSN store..

Has for the Sixaxis, The four red lights start to blink and a Message will pop in the upper right corner of the screen.

As for the controller charging i dont understand what is idle mode but when my battery dies i plug it and since i dont like playing too close to the screen ( 1.5 meters is too close for my sight) i leave the console folding@home till the battery charges.

hmmmm, i didnt know the pc charges the control, might try it later. I have a motorola V3 and the charger seems to fit in the sixaxis USB port thingie, if i plug it will it charge??? i better ask before i burn it

I'm in the Uk and the store isn't slow for me at least, it's most likely becuase your not in the UK and so the connection has further to travel.   

yeah, i have noticed that it doesn't charge when ps3 is with red light on. By idle i meant, if you leave the console to download a demo or something, and go out, would you have the sixaxis charging, or not?CountZer0

I'm in the Uk and the store isn't slow for me at least, it's most likely becuase your not in the UK and so the connection has further to travel.   

mate i'l probably have abnother ps3 in a few weeks so i'l catch you online around then:)

BTW, if you have a 360 or a Wii, plug the Sixaxis and it will charge!

i dont think it has much to do with how high the population is .

I mean the Netherlands as Store support and we have like 16 000 000 people in our country.

Nope not everything.. madden has stadiium shadows gamespot screwed up and put a different time of day in the ps3 picture so there where no shadows.. check back to the same feature now and behold the shadows they put in without a word of apology.

Anyway, I'll probably get resistance tmr, because i bought a vga box and i don't think it will work with component cable, so I am gonna return it back and get a game. Damn, the case writes component input  in front. At the back of the case though, it shows a picture of the inputs of the device. It has an input port same as the ps3's av port, so i guess it is component output. So it won't work I assume. I need 6 input ports, RED, GREEN, BLUE, WHITE, RED, YELLOW. And I am sure I won't be able to get my money back, so I am gonna buy a game instead.

You can create a U.S. account yet you can't buy anything? That's weird. Refusing money is not in any Corporation's language. Games are coming. Just gotta wait. Good luck programming. Hopefully you can come in here and tell us what it's like to program for a PS3; whether it's difficult or not.
