It does not need it. If your PS3 is a BC 80 gig then the PS2 games save to the hard drive and you use the wireless dualshock to play it.

I think those features were only on older models. I don't think you can connect PS2 controllers to any PS3.

The newest 80 gigs don't have those features unfortunately and i don't think they are BC either. They may be BC but i know they don't have the ports

If you have the new 80 gig PS3 there are no memory card readers and it doesn't support PS2 games. The ones that had PS2 support has 4 USB ports and the ones that didn't support PS2 games has 2 USB ports.

You need 2 things

1) Memory Card Adapter

http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-Memory-Card-Adaptor/dp/B000K1GZIU

2) PS2/PS3 Controller Adapter

http://www.amazon.com/PS2-Controller-Adaptor-Sony-PS3/dp/B000PS1TG6

The only problem is that the current 80GB PS3 do not support PS2 games but dont worry, Sony had patented a way for the current PS3's to play PS2 games but its not released yet.

You have the same problem because you bought the new 80GB system.

Those models don't come with the memory stick slots and you can not play PS2 or PS1 games on them.

dont listen to this guy....he falls to his ignorance...anyway....look at your USB slots......is it 2 or 4 slots?????if its four you have BC...and if you have BC then u dont need PS2 controllers just a PS3 controller which is wireless...as for memory cards...u need an adapter....go on ebay or gamestop to see if they have it...

The newer PS3's aint what they use to be. Sony has been cutting features out to save them money on production costs ...and eventually make the PS3 cheaper for consumers to buy..but not before Sony rings every last cent out of the public possible.
