Hey people, I was going to buy Just Cause 2 for my ps3, but then I heard the controls are really bad. So, I want to know if they are game ruining or not. Should I still get the game. Also, it would be helpful if you gave me a brief description of the controls.

They aren't necessarily "game ruining" bad but they do take some getting used to. I got the game for free from PS+ and played it recently. they have you using the R2 (and L2 for dual guns) for shooting. Also, you have to use the left arrow to switch to grenades, c4 etc then use L2 to use it. A bit cumbersome. L1 is for the grapple and R1 is for sprint. It is an odd combination especially since most shooters have you using R1 to shoot and all of that. Like I said, it just takes getting used to. It could be a good game but it definitely is flawed in some of its aspects. The voice acting is so bad that I find myself skipping the cut scenes just so I don't here it. Also, the save system is one of the worst I have seen in a long time.

You can switch the buttons from the 2's to R1 and L1...but it's not the way the controls are mapped thats the problem, it's the mechanics of the controls/camera, they're pretty bad.

personally didn't like the game or the controls. I switched the controls to shoot with R1 and it made it a little better.

I just can't figure out how to fly. Seriously. I can't seem to get off the ground.

Took me a minute but I figured it out. i use the default controls so it was R2 to accelerate or go up and L2 to go down or decelerate. I only few the helicopter tho. Not sure how the others are.

It's like this,. no matter where you are in a mission, if you die, you have to start the mission all over. Even if you save midway between it, you still have to start it completely over.

Flying is easy, the controls and camera are fine... What game are you-all playing??? JC2 is an awesome game, probably one of the best sandbox games ever made. The story is weak, and the stereotypes of Latin people from voices to character models are sometimes unfortunate, but as an action game, I loved it. There are so many things you can do.

Steal aircraft and buzz under bridges, climb to the highest point and jump, surf cars as you shoot civilians, strap yourself to a gas tank with the grappling hook shoot a hole in the canister and jet yourself up to about 500ft in the air jumping off it just before it explodes... Basically, if you see it, you can get there (and steal it/blow it up). And of course, shooting the entire place full of holes.

Don't worry about the controls, they aren't broken. The game is top-nacho.

Eh... I deleted the game. After chasing down a paparrazzi on a bike, I learned I'd have to shoot something while flying a freaking plane and decided the game wasn't for me. I don't even like open-world shooters; I only got it because it was free on PSN+ and I'm a Square Enix fan.
