Hello, yep so I exchanged my crappy samsung BluRay player with the PS3-S. I have never even played a PS3 (as I am normally a 360 guy) before. I do own a PSP however (and still have my PS2) but I was just looking for some beginner advice on some of the stuff I can do. I played around with it for a couple hours lastnight. I was wondering about the remote play..how to do it, what is it even good for? (with my psp). How the USB accessory thing works. I read that you can hook "almost any" USB device to the SLIM..anyways, just looking for some good advice and help? Thanks, and much appreciated! :D Oh and I do love it so far..downloaded the Infamous demo; totally boss.

The remote play feature is a feature that allows you to access your PS3 from any where as long as your PSP can be connected to any internet service. You can use all kinds of USB devises on the PS3 (some don't work as well as the ones designed for the system). The eye toy is one that comes to mind because it does more than a web cam can do.

Think of it as a computer when it comes to the USB. I.E. my signature

You can convert ANY video into H264 or the DIVX codec which are both free.

Remote play essentially lets you run your PS3 from your PSP. You can choose to run it from your PS3 or over the internet from anywhere. I play Final Fantasy 7 on my PS3 from my PSP. (Further in the game on my PS3)

Rent and buy movies from Playstation store.

Same with a few games.

It's darn near endless what the PS3 can do.

Yes to first question you need to sync the PS3 to your PSP to begin with. The remote play uses the internet to access your PS3 like say your visiting a friend anywhere in the country or any part of the world that has a wifi connection then you can access your PS3 from the PSP remotely (don't worry about any other PSP or any other device accessing your PS3 because any device that uses any wireless connection has be be synced first with a single PS3 before it can access it). And the wireless signal is used to connect to a wireless network if you have one in your home.

Just takes a little time to get the hang of it. It uses your email account and password you set-up to connect remotely. Also another nice little thing is about a year ago there was a firmware that allowed you to turn your PS3 on (from stand-by) and off remotely.

Er, I guess what i'm trying to figure out: I was under the impression you could, as long as your PS3 is plugged in and connected to the internet (hardwired or wireless), do the remote play from anywhere? Well so far, it seems like you have to go into the ps3 and click "remote play" whether you're doing the private network (PS3 wifi) or just over the internet...so how do you get the PS3 to accept remote play if you're no-where near it? Like say i'm at my friend's house. How do I remote from there on my PSP?

If they have a wifi set-up that you can use your PSP on it's not really that hard once you have everything synced and useing the correct user name and password.

so if i'm at my buddies house, all I have to do is try and connect? (he has wifi). Assuming my PS3 is connect to the internet at home, it should just power-on and sync?

A lot of truth there. The thing is when someone wants to know what remote play does it may be easier to ansewer what this doesn't do. The feature is one big plus for the PSN. You can transfer pictures, music, and videos between the two systems via remote play.
