You can charge it with the USB port, but you need a special USB cable. One end has two wires coming out of it. One is a regular usb cable while the other is a power connector. It's really slow to charge though. Much faster with the adapter. I got mine from Walmart.
PSP battery chargers and cords are available at my local Meijer (it's a midwest chain of general stores, similar to Wal-Mart) for around $15 each. I would check local general stores for PSP items on clearance. I was able to get a new official PSP battery for $20. There was a bunch of other stuff there, too.
Hey I am just putting it out there, but why would you buy a PSP without a charger. Either you got ripped or you got ripped. Anyways, you can get a USB charger, but it is slow. I would recommend getting an A/C adapter from Walmart for around twenty dollars.
