Just got an 80GB PS3... Model number question

This is a great day. My mother in law surprised us with a brand new PS3 for Christmas. I have a few questions about the model number. I have the 80GB CECHK01 model. Is this any better or worse than other 80GB models? Is it the newer or older model? Is there any backwards compatability with PS2 games?
