...and its awesome. Gorgeous visuals, minimal loading time (provided the game data is saved to the HDD), great presentation, lot faster than previous incarnations (I never played vf5 in the arcades), I likey.

Wonder if I should take tomorrow off...

Where did you order it from? How big is the hard drive install?  Is it in 1080p?

Well, I live in Japan so just ordered it off amazon.co.jp (got a 10th anniversary VF something or other with it, but haven't opened that yet)
HDD data is a whopping 2.4 gigs (guess that's what it's there for, eh?)
My TV is only 720p, but judging by the back of the box (see below) it is 1080p!

Great, thanks for the info.  How long is the loading?  Is there any tag team modes?  Of course, what do you think of it compared to VF4 Evo?  Can you campare it to DOA4 on 360 for graphics?  Do you know if its in umcompressed PCM or is it in Dolby Digital 5.1, or is it something different?

My anticipation for this game is killing me!

Whoa, whoa! Slow down there sailor! It's in Dolby Digital 5.1, never played VF4 Evo or DOA4 so cannot compare, load times are 2-4 seconds on average (although ONCE it stretched to 5-6 seconds), no idea about tag team mode (my gf already kicked me off the TV...)

Do you know how many difficulty levels are there?  What kind of music is it as in rock or something else?

Music's the usual fare (very forgettable) and probably the weakeset part of the game so far (although I personally like the incredibly cheesy voice acting).

Not sure on the difficulty settings, again I've been relegated to the bedroom,  trying to install Ubuntu on my desktop, but am about to go back out there for some more vf5 goodness.

The voice acting is only Japanese correct?  It won't sound cheesy to on English only speaker.  I'll remember its cheesy in its native tongue though:D  Have you seen much CG for intro or endings?  Are there pre-fight animations and taunts?  Do the clothes and hair have physics to them, or are they just kinda painted on?

jeez 2.4gigs for the game data, that's insane. I fear that games are going to start installing more and more and eventually go up to like 10gig marks. Before we know it, our 60gig hdds are going to require an upgrade if we don't want to be constantly deleting game data.

Nope, voice acting is in Japanese and english.
no cg, intros from what I have seen have been in real time
yup, pre fight animations are there
Clothes and hair have some physics, they move around nicely as you fight.
I like the snow stage, as you can leave tracks in the snow, NICE

If you'll excuse me, its 1 am here and I must sleep...

Ohh, wait, that bonus disk I got is some special edition thingy where the characters and moves are from VF4 EVO but the character models and stages are from the original Virtua Fighters, Bizarre no? At least thats what it says on the box, haven't opened it yet...

I was just on www.playasia.com and almost bought it myself, but the one thing that stopped me was the fact that by the time it ships to my house (Atlanta via "standard shipping") it will probably be out in the U.S. a couple days later.  Now correct me if I'm wrong.....

For those that imported it, how long did it take for it to ship to you?

Only if you're not a fan of fighting games.... If you take the time to master the characters, it doesn't really get old. Especially not VF. I can still pick up VF4 from time to time and have fun with it.

Thats an excellent question:D

To VF5 owners:  Who's names appear on the credits?

I am almost 100% sure it is actually in uncompressed PCM, I am also 100% sure the guy with this game does not have the setup to handle that type of sound anyway.

You're right about my setup, and as for uncompressed PCM I have no idea, just going by what it says on the back of the box, which is Dolby Digital 5.1
