Hi guys. I just purchased a PS3 60gb HDD. I currently own an Xbox 360, and I've been meaning to get a PS3 for a while. Now that I have it, am I losing out from not purchasing a PS3 80gb HDD, besides more hard drive space? I was just wondering because I noticed they arent selling the 60gb version at the retail stores in my area or online for that matter. Was it discontinued? If so, why? Anyways, I'm real excited about my purchase. I cant wait to pick up Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Ratchet & Clank, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I would take it to the recommendation thread, but I would like to hear another gamer's opinion. What other games are must-haves? There might be a game that I may have overlooked. Thanks for the help.

Oh one more question. Which HDMI cable do you recommend from Monoprice.com? The cheaper the better, but quality does matter. What's the best value? What do you recommend? Name and part # would help lots.

To the OP, your questions in order -

The only real difference between the 60GB and the 80GB PS3 is the HDD space. In fact, out of the box the 60GB PS3 has more backward compatibility with PS2 games than the 80GB due to Hardware Emulation; as opposed to the 80GB's Software Emulation.

All of the PS3's other than the 40GB model have been discontinued in (at least) the US in preparation for Sony's (rumored) new(er) models coming out later this year. The upside to that is a lesser price for those getting into PS3. The downside is that the 40GB has zero compatibility with PS2 games.

Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, COD4 and Warhawk seems to be the most popular PS3 games at the moment.

HDMI cables are all virtually the same up to 6ft (yes, 6ft in length). Past 6ft, signal degradation begins, and having a higher quality cable can really make a difference in quality of audio/video. Up to 6ft however, they're all pretty much the same.

I have the PS3 Ethernet connected to the Router and my PC Ethernet to the Router.

How to I view the hard drive contents of the PS3? I want to see how much free space and what photos/music from my computer is on PS3 hard drive.

I was trying to view the movies and video content using the Web Browser in the PS3 on www.hulu.com site, but got message "need to install updated Adobe Flash Viewer". How do you add a Flash Player update?

Question on using TVersity Media server: When I add content to the Server, the Server is recongnized by the PS3. Is the Server content transferred each time to the PS3 or does the content just transfer once? I ask because the PS3 goes into the download mode each time for content (photos) that was already transferred...or does the PS3 just "read" the Server content and not transfer it? I do have the latest PS3 System Updates.

Thanks!
Phil

youre not missing anything out except the hard drive space. i recommend the following games: resistance, motorstorm, burnout paradise, dmc4, the orange box, cod4, uncharted, ratchet & clank, assassins creed, lego star wars: the complete saga, ninja gaiden sigma. but its also good to wait for the big games like haze or project origin or something....

HDMI cables only vary in durability and not visual quality. Monster cables are coated in kevlar and are less likely to break. Cheap cables have the same visual quality up to a certain cable length before any noticeable difference. If you go into really long cables (over 80 feet) then pick up an HDMI cable with range booster for maximum quality.

They've already announced the 80 Gig MGS4 Bundle coming out in June that comes with an 80 Gig PS3, a DualShock3 Controller and MGS4.

Yes I know, but it's been discontinued for now and besides the "new" 80GB models, there's rumors of NEW new models on the horizon. That's all I was saying. :)
