I just sold my broke down 360 over the interweb and got a PS3 in the past week. On Xbox i was a huge fan of xbox live and pretty much only played online. I was a little skepticle of The Playstation Network for the following Reasons

1. No one has Mics...Is this still true even though warhawk came with one?

2. Cannot easily message, chat, and invite with friends within a game...Is this true?

3. Compared to Xbox live Playstation Network is Cold and non user-friendly... Is this True?

So far im impressed with the PS3 and nenver imaginedI would spend so much time playing by myself as I have with Uncharted. I havent played online yet so if anyone can help with theese questions it would be appreciated.

1. People have mics, not all but some still do.

2. Messaging, chating is easy. Invite friends within a game, not like XBL

3. Not cold, user friendly.

->4. Home!!! soon....

1. A fair amount of users (Including myself) DO have mics, in fact in some games of CoD4 i've played virtually everyone had one. No problem here.

2. This is a bit of a mixed bag, since it depends on the game you're playing. Resistance has a great message system so you can easily post other users but others... not quite as good.

3. Erm... no. Not at all.

1. Not true, you'll probably find 7 out of 12 have 'em in a game.

2. This is true, but in game XBL is confirmed this year

3. It isn't as easy and not as much options, but to make it "warmer" they are adding home and it is free, so what can you expect :D.

edit: on home, it has been in beta forever and people say it'll come out with in game XBL, but who knows I'm guessing mid 08 to early 09

  1. People have Mics I had two until my first one (Had it since the first Socom) stopped working then I had to use the mic I got with Warhawk I like it better as there is no wirers and it is lighter as well. But I have to take it out to charge now and then. But peope do have mics every CoD 4 room I go into has at least 5 mics not including my self but weather they speak the same langauage as you is questionable.
  2. Well chat is easy. You have to quit the game to read and send messages but Sony is meant to be making a Firmware Update to let you message from in the game. Inviting friends currently depends on the game.
  3. The PSN is very user friendly and is Free as well. And who said it was cold.

I hope that answers all your qeustions.

PSN ID: SG90. If you want on my friends list you will have to message me.

1. Not many people talk in the online games I play. (COD, Team Fortress, Unreal)

2. XBOX does have a better community setup. No doubt about that.

3. XBOX Live has a better structureand far more downloads. PSN, though, has better "mini" games to download and is getting better every week.

I have both consoles and use both extensively. The bottom line is that the XBOX 360 is more developed. But the PS3 is the future and has much more potential.

XMB = Xross Media Bar (pronounced CROSS media bar)

Your main PS3 menu system.

Like u i love Xbox live and i have to say, PSN dont come close, the Buddies list if so so wrong the messaging system is poorly intergrated barely anyone has mics and its jsut bot that pretty although its free so it pretty much evens it out.

Im not looking foward to home at all it seems to be aimed at people who have nothing better to do then walk around ur friends virtual room

PSN cannot compete with Xbox Live, but for anyone who isn't a fanboy we can live with that considering XBL has been out for five years while PSN only has a little over a year under its belt.

Also considering its free doesn't hurt, although it doesn't make it better as some people try to say. Piss is free, doesn't mean its better than a beer or any drink for that matter.

Most of that IS true, but keep in mind that it gets better every month. They are always working on making it better. By the end of the year, all those problems are supposed to be fixed.

Your number one question about microphones is probably far from accurate. Many people have mics but probably just opt not to use them unless absolutely necessary. I find that most people that use them just enjoy making random noises and blurting out a bunch of smack talk (which I suck at). I only turn my mic on occasionally and then when I'm done talking I just turn it off again. I enjoy being able to turn my bluetooth on and off whenever I feel like it. You can probably do the same with the 360 microphones but I am not sure. Another thing, it seems to me that the sensitivity of the mics for PS3 are extremely sensitive I personally have mine set to 1 and it will still pick up a very light conversation (close to whisper)from across my living room. Oh yeah, Cherryskittle is right I would much rather pay $3 for a cold Miller Lite rather than drink my warm piss for free, but I still like the PSN overall.

I'd say multiplats from the holiday are sufficient enough to keep anyone busy until the big titles come out.

Welcome V_Purity_V. From what my friend says it might be easier for the XboXers to chat in games, that might account for the difference you are seeing in the mics. When the PS3 home is released this year I think you will be stoked as we all will be for a place to hang out and meet new friends. Enjoy your new PS3!

I am a pretty casual gamer, and I would have to say that I have noticed very little difference between XBL and PSN. My brother, brothers in law, and nephews all have 360's and I have played live on those. After reading all these posts about how much better live was than PSN I thought I might lose out when I bought my PS3. When I played online on my PS3 I really noticed only one difference. When I played on live the lag was horrible, there was lag every game we played in. i have rarely encountered lag on PSN. I am not a fanboy or anything I am just stating it from a casual gamers view point.

thanks for all the feedback. xbox live does also have gamercards and acheivements too... oh well overall im happy with my choice. i thinks its obvious to lemmings and cows that the PS3 is built for the future and needs some time to develop. but i think by about 2009 - 2010 it will have an upper hand on the selling aspect.

More games = 360, more games I like = PS3

Sure the 360 has a larger library of titles, but quality is subjective and changes from person to person.

Congrats on the PS3 if you like online you should give Warhawk a go since it isnt on both systems!!! Man it is hard at first but i have always been a fan of a high learning curve. There is so much skill in the game with onfoot, in air, and tanks etc! i have put around 200hours into it since it was a launch title i picked it up!! and the game is sick !!! LOL. I have completed Uncharted 3 times now aswell that is the best single player game i have played since Resident Evil 4
