both have gotten good reviews. inFamous feels a bit more like a superhero game. Prototype is a darker anti-hero brawler type of game.
One hero can use electricity, one hero can use biological attacks.
Seriously, its not that simple. One has great intuitive controls. One has clumsy, chaotic controls. One has cool graphics with a cool art style. One has GTA3 graphics with a darker anti-hero who doesn't fit his environment. One has great characters who add a lot of life to the great story. One has lifeless characters that help destroy the already broken story. I could go on and on. These games don't compare as easily as people say they do. They are opposites on many fronts. For example: One is good and the other is...not so good.[QUOTE="SaudiFury"]Seriously, its not that simple. One has great intuitive controls. One has clumsy, chaotic controls. I agree wholehartedly. I wanted to like Prototype as much as Infamous so much, since i saw Prototype mid last year. And Infamous a few months after that. I was so hyped for Prototype, But after playing and finishing infamous, it just seems like im playing the Last Gen Prequel whenever i pop Prototype in. Compared to Infamous that is. In saying that, if i hadnt have played infamous and loved it so much, i would probably be loving prototype right now.
I have them both and I like Prototype better. I can't for the life of me understand why people keep saying that Prototype's graphics suck. They are not the best by any means but they aren't as bad as everybody says. Personally both games are great but Prototype has got me hooked.
I have both and I think both are worth the $60. I won't even bother comparing because, frankly, these games share little beyond being sandbox games. Everything about them is different. Both games try to entertain you in different ways.
All I can say is, is if you're interested in both than buy whichever you're more interested in first. If you're interested in them both equally than buy whichever you can find cheaper (online is the way to go).
If nothing else, flip a coin.;)
infamous... better story, epic ending, better controls... i dont know infamous just feels right. Prototype has a shyti camera... whatever I tried playing this game ... just not my taste.
Prototype looks to be geared towards those who want chaotic action and violence. The gameplay seems satisfying in that it really gives you an outlet for aggression. On the other hand, I bought and finished Infamous, and man did it ever surprise me: gorgeous game, fun gameplay, really well polished, and events and characters which ignite the imagination. And the story: best I've seen this gen. Simply a jaw dropping ending which makes me anxiously look forward to the inevitable sequel. I can truly, whole-heartedly recommend Infamous at full price.I have both and I have to give the nod to Prototype. The game is just A W E S O M E!

I'd recommend InFamous. Prototype's story is pretty boring and predictable. The action and all is good but can get really annoying/frustrating (especially at the end of them game). Then, once you're done, you can try getting golds/platinums on the challenges, and then regret buying the game because of how stupid and unfair they are.
InFamous. For the love of gaming, InFamous. InFamous is the only one worth the money IMO. Prototype is such a disappointment. Its fun for a while, but its nothing like it was hyped up to be. InFamous, on the other hand, exceeded expectations. ;)Nephilim83did you even play it? (cuz i remember you said you were going to cancel your pre-order cuz of the low reviews) )
yo I would go with infamous. it's good.
I haven't played prototype and never will. the only reason i played infamous was because it had good reveiws, but i usually hate games like theae. prototype has got bad reveiws from the sites i've checked so far.
Prototype is simply amazing...graphically it isnt as good as infamous (that is on ps3 n-e way) on my pc it beats infamous hands down..i have played infamous and i thought i wouldnt like it but i was wrong.it is good..the gfx actually arent superb in that game eitha tho..prototypes story feels bit dragged but the gameplay is great..If its gameplay which you choose to make purchases prototype is FTW..all in all prototype kept me addicted while infamous..i played because i paid.
Both Great, but both different. Prototype is more like Spiderman, Hulk: UD and God of War combined. InFamous is also great, better than prototype by a bit imo.

prototype looks worse for two reasons.
1. Multiplatform
2. The amount of enemies, andsmoothnessof the game are amazing, they decided to go for bigger scale thangraphicallyimpressive.
I can speak for inFamous, worth every penny. Great game with a decent length and pace, plenty of missions and playing good and then playing through evil are two entirely different experiences, from what I hear prototype is the same way every playthrough. Also based on aspects of prototypes gameplay i've heard, afetr playing through inFamous i don't think I could handle prototype. Web swinging? Meh. I also read in a user review of proto on here that you can't smoothly walk over a curb, you have to jump. You can climb up buildings by using the windows on inFamous, and then glide off, land on a power line, and go for a skate!
don't listen to all of the infamous and prototype fanboys! I have been waiting for prototype for a looong time. I was like half-fanboy myself. When I started playing I had a blast.... for a while. Eventually I realized that, even tho you get mor and more powers, it is basically the same thing over and over again. Then I went to blockbuster and rented infamous. I had barely even bothered to read or look at anything about it. I loved it from the moment I put it in. After the rent expiredI bought it. Prototype is great, but not worth the 60 bucks. I'd say buy infamous and rent prototype, but thats just me.

very good reason to get infamous. the two isnt 'entirely' different though, but the game kind of has 2 sides of the main story
awesome experience imo
well i mean for me there's a total difference in being rightous and saving the city and slaughtering anyone standing in the way of my hunger for power lol. but you're right basically it is kinda similar both ways. I hear there are two endings. Is there a big difference?[QUOTE="Nephilim83"]InFamous. For the love of gaming, InFamous. InFamous is the only one worth the money IMO. I heard good things and I heard bad things and eventually I decided to check it out for myself. I had it paid for already, so I figured I'd go ahead and pick it up. Man, I pretty much regret not going with my gut and cancelling it. ;)
idk if prototype is a platformer or not but inFamous being a platformer, it will eventually get stale once you've beaten all the side-missions and taken over the 3 districts, found all collectibles (32 dead drops and350 blast shards) and had a taste of good and evil main story playthroughs. After that you can either explore an almost enemy free city or play a new file over and over for however many times. Should have had some kind of gauntket of enemies.don't listen to all of the infamous and prototype fanboys! I have been waiting for prototype for a looong time. I was like half-fanboy myself. This is pretty much how I'm feeling about it right about now. I put in a little over ten hours on Prototype struggling to enjoy myself after the first few hours. I never finished it, because it got boring and the story in no way drives you to the end. I just don't feel the urge to go on. InFamous I played twice already, got a platinum in it, and just got done playing it a bit more just for some crazy fun parkour and electrified combat. I swear, dude, InFamous has so much more to offer, but that's just me.

I completely agree. That about sums it up in a nutshell.

It's the platforming and exploration of inFamous that give it more longevity. Plus... all you have to do is have a save file with districts not completely taken over to have waves of enemies to fight after you've beaten the game. It is Prototype's lack of exploration (or lack of emphasis on anything besides combat) that leads to it feeling pretty stale after a while.[QUOTE="Link_dude23"]

Get (Prototype) its better then Infamous because it has more you can do and more combat moves. The only thing Infamous does better is the graphics. They are both great games but i think you will like prototype better
Both are worth $60. They're actually quite different in how they play. Both are awesome. Get 'em. Don't miss out on either.
I'm playing inFAMOUS right now and I can tell you that its one of the best games this gen so far. The gameplay is near flawless and the story will keep you playing for hours, although it doesn't pick up until about an hour or two into the game, which isn't a big deal.
I'm going to rent Prototype after I'm finished.
What is up with everyone putting Prototype in comparison with Infamous. They have different qualities that serve better in some aspects than others. Prototype has funner, gory combat, while infamous has better graphics.
Back to your question, It is a tough one, but Prototype. :)
