Not sure how I feel about this . . .

I love every single one of you. A forum where people UNDERSTAND the decision Kojima made. I cringe everytime I read an article about MGS5 and it's "Snake this, snake that", like if Snake is the character you'll be playing as. What is so hard about understand that Big Boss is near 50?Â
I'm completely fine by this. But I think something is being kept from us. Something just seems weird. Hayter is hating on his Twitter account today. Then he changes his picture with one of him and Kojima. The whole video about Sutherland being Big Boss didn't add up either. Not once did he say I'm Snake, or recite a line or anything. Something just seems off...
Why now? Why didn't they change Snake's voice in MGS4? It does not make sense!

For the love of sweet Jesus, it's Big Boss who's getting the new voice actor. His voice was already changed in MGS4 to avoid confusion with SOLID Snake....
Not just that but apparently BB's Japanese voice actor is still the same. Stay tuned.I'm completely fine by this. But I think something is being kept from us. Something just seems weird. Yeah I know, forgot to mention that, haha. But yeah...something is smells fishy. I'm hoping Sutherland DOES do the voice for Big Boss and Solid Snake makes some sort of cameo with Hayter's voice. That would be epic as hell. Of course especially if a remake for Metal Gear and MEtal Gear 2 occur!

I know that. I think it's bs to be honest. We'll only know when the game is released, unfortunately.[QUOTE="DevilishStyles"][QUOTE="SOedipus"]

Not to mention that Sutherland clearly voiced Ishmael in the Phantom Pain trailer. May not mean anything, but could it be that Sutherland is actually voicing someone else in the game? Honestly, though, I'm cool with it. Kojima explained that they needed someone who could act with their face as well as their voice. If that's the case, the Japanese VA wouldn't need to be changed, since he will only be dubbed over Sutherland's facial animations anyway. That pretty much explains itself. I can get behind that. However, other than MoCap acting, it really doesn't make sense. I hear the "he's older" argument, but people seem to forget that Solid Snake was OLD Snake in the last game, because he'd rapidly aged into his sixties - older than Big Boss will be in MGS5. So Hayter has already given a middle-aged Snake his voice, making age irrelevant. Unless they absolutely had to differentiate between the two Snakes (which again, I'm totally fine with), dropping Hayter just seems unnecessary. But hey, it's Keifer effing Sutherland. How could this not be amazing?[QUOTE="SOedipus"]

Ahh yes. Im glad someone got that right :P To be fair, I don't believe SOedipus was mistaking the two. I'm pretty sure he was asking why they didn't get a new actor to play middle-aged Snake but apparently need one to play a middle-aged Big Boss. It's a good question, really. I think the answer may be something along the lines of "we want Big Boss to actually sound older, not like he's grunting his way through a rectal exam." Regardless, Snake is Big Boss's name, too. Why do people automatically assume you're talking about Solid Snake when they simply say Snake? Even Kojima refers to Big Boss's character as Snake. Everytime I read an article about a MGS game with Big Boss, people usually mention Solid Snake, confusing the two. Whether he did or didn't mistake the two, Big Boss did need a new voice actor. Regardless to say, we'll just have to wait and see. When has Kojima ever let any of us down? I trust his decision will be for the best. Hayter WILL come back to voice Solid Snake. I know Kojima will remake MG1 and MG2 to finally retire on the franchise that kickstarted his career.Â
Hayters gonna hate...lol, but seriously though; Kojima is a freaking genius. So, I'm cool with it... I trust his decision with picking Jack Bauer over Hayter.
KS is probably perfect for the part. Hayter's VO started sounding more and more ridiculous as the series went on - it got more growly and hi-pitched from MGS2>MGS3>MGS4, and thus more cartoony and unrealistic :/

I agree. Â To be honest, I really don't even like Hayter as Snake. Â His voice always sounded silly to me, so I'm quite fine with this change.
On the other hand, I can understand why MGS fans are upset. Â Hayter has been doing the voice a long time now, so it's easy to see why fans are upset. Â I know if they changed, say, Nolan North as Nathan Drake I'd be livid, so I see where the majority of fans are coming from.
Regardless of what side of the fence you're on, I think we can agree that, if nothing else and all bias aside, Keifer Sutherland does have a good voice, and he should be able to play the role effectively.
Besides, thankfully they did pick Keif and not some overused, overrated actor like Mark Wahlberg or The Rock.
too bad Kojima screwed up the age of Big Boss because since he wakes up 9 years from the comma in 1984, he should be in his 60 not late 40 as in MGS2 liquid said Big Boss was in his late 50 when they created his copies which happened in 1972 if I'm not mistaken I know I might have repeated it a lot but it is an important detail that I feel kojima should clarify or fix.I'm fine with it. Big Boss is getting older, and so should his voice.Â

I feel like I'm the only one who isn't a fan of Keifer Sutherland. David Hayter is Snake to me and will always be Snake to me. I know it won't be the same but I am such a fanboy to MGS that I'll get it anyway.

It's gotta be this, I don't really care what Sutherland is saying or even Kojima at this point. The trailers so far have way too many continuity errors in the trailer for this to be Solid Snake. Supposedly the game is set in 1984 which would make Solid Snake 12 years old, but Kojima is saying Solid Snake is 49 in this game. Also at the beginning of this trailer the guy "Solid Snake" is riding with mentions that he will have to rebuild his private army. Solid Snake never had a private army, but Big Boss did.
Also in the first trailer you can see that "Solid Snake" has a prosthetic arm. We have never seen an older version of Solid Snake with a prosethetic. Another thing is you can "Solid Snake" smoking a cigar. Again that's a trait of Big Boss not Solid Snake.Â
Yet another thing is the eye patch, Big Boss had an eye patch on his right eye (just like in the latest trailer), and Solid Snake never wore an eye patch as a younger man. Even when he got "old" he wore the mechanical eye patch on his left.
It's clear to me that Solid Snake has not even appeared in the trailers for MGS5 as of yet. My only question is why is Kojima bothering with the misderection when it's incredibly clear in the trailers who we are going to be playing as.
I think that David will continue to play Solid Snake, and Keifer Sutherland has been recruited to be the voice of Big Boss from now on.I feel like I'm the only one who isn't a fan of Keifer Sutherland. Kiefer has an amazing voice. And you're seriously going to concern yourself with this despite how **** amazing the game looks? Geez! Some people!

Could be that he adopted the name much the same way that Big Boss used the code name Naked Snake before he killed Big Boss and took over her regime. Just saying. Please Log In to post.
