GarchomPro
2 gigs for a level? check this demo out...I got this from another post but here look at the vid first. all you see in the video is ONLY 318 kb. with that technology...imagine what sony can do with that. and i think Sony and that company are working on something. not sure. i read it somewhere.

look, you dont know anything abotu compression. if they were developing for xbox360, they would and could easily make it fit on to a dvd-9. stop being pulled in by spin.feel_freetwo
yeah and compress teh crap otu of the textures and sound. especially the sound. there is no way they woul be able to fit the game exactly how they want it onto a dvd. if that was possible then they dditn need to makeeach level use 2gigs of space. I work for a post production company and work with video compression everday.

you can say you work for a post production company all you want, however considering the amount of lies of forums, i wouldnt bother in future, its meaningless. its made by sony, they want to justify the 50gb blu ray they did with resistence. it means nothing considering they said it, and why people cant understand that simple little bit of information? bottom line, call of duty 4, bioshock can all fit on dvds. stop being fanboys and believing what ever you hear that is positive.[QUOTE="joevfx"][QUOTE="feel_freetwo"]look, you dont know anything abotu compression. if they were developing for xbox360, they would and could easily make it fit on to a dvd-9. stop being pulled in by spin.feel_freetwo

You want to compare hddvd with bluray compression???
I have both and you gotta be kiddin me.....
no way does hdvd look as good as bray.
I play in an italian band and we are recording every week.......you know how much uncompressed audio comes out of 30 minutes of music? 300gb.....and i'm not kiddin.....think of that compressed to 50gb...it already sucks...then think it in 14gb......now think how much mp3s make me puke!!!!
and you tell me 50gb are useless???

hd dvd has nothing to do with anything nor do i see how my age is involved. and i do know a little about music, im sure not as much as you. all i know is i can convert 20mb files to under a mb. dont talk about compression to much because no one here really knows what these games can compress to, no one knows the standards they are using. bioshock has a TON of audio, and can fit on a dvd. does killzone 2 have more....maybe. my point is simple, dont believe everything a developer said. it would be like me sayying "im dating lucy lui" does it make it true, simply because i said it?Hop over to Gametrailers and watch the recent Killzone vids. They show the opening of the game...you know, the one we saw in the trailer...and it's all being done in REAL TIME. They paused it, zoomed into the ground below the carriers, rotated the viewand showed an insane amount of polygonal and texture detail. THAT, my friend, is why 50GBs is needed. As a 3d modeler, I have some knowledge of what a model, even a low res game model, takes up on a hard disk. Add in animation, texture, sound, game codeand"extras"- all over the course of several levels and you'd be hard pressed to fit it on a DVD at the level of detail to which this game goes.
