Killzone 2 = Definitive First Person Shooter on PS3 ?

Could it be possible ? Can Killzone 2 really be the ultimate FPS on PS3. We all know the guys at Guirrilla have been working on Killzone for the past 2 and a half years and Sony have backed them in the process because well after all Guirrilla are acquired by Sony.

There is just so much going on with Killzone, how can this game possibly fail ? Sony have always made outstanding games, just look at Gran Turismo and God Of War. I say Killzone is gonna be the most important first party game at E3 07. Killzone is highly enticipated because gamers worlwide as well as the gaming media want to see if Sony can pull it off.

Killzone will definitely impress but I'm not sure if its going to meet that CGI video quality but then again Phil Harrison did say that some areas already exceed the video, I'm guessing physics.

There is a better chance that Resistance remains the best exclusive FPS for the ps3. (and Resistance 2). Killzone is just a dream at this point.

that would be sad... resistance is almost like CoD3 gameplay wise.. (yeah, it's better, but not much different)

I have heard from an interview last year that Multiplayer is going to be the focus for Killzone

Well, Killzone 2 certainly has the potential to be the definitive FPS on the PS3. However, really have to play the game to find out for real. I have high hopes though. :D

when sony show killzone2 at E3 hatters will say "oh pfft, COD4 already had that graphics pfft and crysis PWN it!" even if the game match or exceed the CGI in 05

Some people would say you can go wrong with $40 million, but I don't think that Guerilla will with this game. They were a small studio when they made the first Killzone and it turned out fine. And now they have more than 120 developers in the Netherlands working on the game at the moment. Along with Sony's total support. I personally believe that no matter what happens I'll be getting the game. Mostly so I can see all my friends from my clan on the original.-oG-ShAdY

By fine I ment the game lived up to expectations and then some. I wasn't about to call it great for fear of backlash. I think it was under rated to be honest.

It's Killzone. There is no chance. And even if the game is released and turns out superb, another shooter will come along and beat it anyway. Most likely Resistance 2. Which will replace Killzone 2 and make it completely obsolete.

I was just wondering if you could name a shooter that came out and then had another shooter come out a year later that completely trumped it and made everyone forget about the first? That would mean that no one plays it anymore because of the second shooter that replaced it.

With the budget on this game it should be good, if for somereason it doesn't turn out to be that great there's still Haze, Resistance 2,Call of Duty 4 and Unreal Tournament 3BreakingPoint8

I think so far everything is pointing towards Killzone being one hell of agame, after all Killzone has a big budget, 120 people working for it as well as the full support of Sony. HOW CAN THIS GAME FAIL ?

You are very right sir. The sound and the motions of the character are very close to that of the original game. I think they did that on purpose so people would believe that it was actual in-game footage. I don't think, however, that it really was. I guess I'm open to be pleasantly surprised.

Doom comes out, Quake comes out and is considered better in about every aspect to the gamer public. In recent years the opinion of many seems to have changed.

Halo was the first one considered to be the definitive console shooter, but anyone who had a good history with computer shooters would know that Halo isn't exactly what anyone would call revolutionary, and alot of people seem to forget about GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64. Which was the first truely great console shooter.

The chances of Killzone 2 being definitive... it's just silly to think about. First off you don't know anything about the game, it's best to talk when you at least have some knowledge on the subject. Second, while the first one wasn't that horrible, it wasn't that great either. And there were alot of other better first person shooters on the PS2. Quake 3 Arena, Black, several of the Medal of Honor games, Half-Life, Time Splitters, Red Faction, Area 51, Unreal Tournament, and Darkwatch.

Killzone 2 will just be another shooter in a crowded market. All it has behind it is hype, silly british sounding gas mask wearing goons, and a great story. Why the original game didn't focus on the story more is beyond me. Sure they could improve the aspects of the shooting and story telling, but in given time a better shooter will come out and Sony's silly little trump card would be useless then. But that's all up to the consumers.

Killzone had an awesome story. If Killzone 2 focuses on that story more instead of a bunch of stereotype characters (who were entertaining) yelling the f-word at eachother all the time, I'd probably pick it up just for that. If Killzone 2 wants to stick out of the crowd, it needs to live beyond the stereotypical influence of other shooters we see all the time now. The new Turok comes to mind with it's sci fi futurisitic lite bright costumes...

The best thing Killzone has going for it is it's personality, which I liked. There were alot of shooters that had you playing agaisnt gas mask guys covered in head to toe, but at least Killzone made it interesting. If it can retain the original's charm while making the playing aspects more entertaining, then I think it could be great. Definitive no, but great, maybe even superb.
