Just wondering, I got my PS3 setup with 1080i, but when I play KZ2 it switches to 720p. I did read that KZ2 is better in 720p but why does it do that automatically when my PS3 is setup with 1080i and KZ2 supports 1080i?

thats the native resolution if you want to upscale it to 1080p your gonna have to force it by turning everything off expect 1080p in your display settingsclarkportmanken
On Wikipedia it says 720p and 1080i are both native resolutions. That's why I'm wondering why it downgraded to 720p when my PS3 and TV are setup on 1080i and (apparently via Wikipedia) 1080i is a native res in KZ2

oh 720p and 1080i are pretty much the same thing though i find the 720p to be a bit sharper then 1080i with good reason too. 1080i is interstiched images in a sense its half the image one milli-second (or what ever it is) and hte other the next and your eye puts the too together. 720p is progressive so its the full image at all times. so thats why 720p games can somewhat be called 1080i games as well, if any of that makes sense lol. long story short theres not really any difference between 720p and 1080i.Dude 720p is superior to 1080i.Just wondering, I got my PS3 setup with 1080i, but when I play KZ2 it switches to 720p. Basically because your TV is 720p and nothing more. So what is happening here is that you are sending 1080i via your PS3, then your TV takes that signal and says "Thanks, but no thanks" and then converts it to 720p, because your TV is not capable of displaying anything other than 1366x768.
If you have a 1080p tv, you should go into the PS3 video out settings and check 1080p and 720P. Make sure 1080i is left unchecked. 1080i is an inferior resolution. You really never want to use it, technically speaking it is a resolution between SD and HD. Never use it. This way, if the game is in 1080p, it will show it in that, and if it is in 720p, it will show in that.
If you have a 1080i tv, only select 720p. Your tv can't handle 1080p so there is no need to check that, and 720p will look much better. Without getting all technical with frames per second and odd/even scan lines, just stick with 720p.
