I'm considering getting Killzone 2, since the prices are dropping due to the upcoming release of 3, but a friend of mine said the multiplayer situation is pretty bad right now, due to piracy/cheating.

I really like what I see, even if it's getting older, and I'd definetely get it, but I'm wondering now whether the multiplayer is still enjoyable...?

Alternatively, what's a good PS3, non-FPS multiplayer, except Demon's Souls, (been there)?

I've been playing Killzone 2 for a year now and it is still pretty good. I haven't noticed much cheating and I'm not sure what you mean about a piracy problem, and don't worry about not being able to find games, there's plenty of people who still play that game.

I've also never heard of cheating or "piracy" in KZ2. It's worth getting for the single player alone... especially at $30. I was in the KZ3 beta, and I can tell you the MP in KZ3 is different enough from KZ2 that you really don't need to get too deep in it. By all means, check it out though. I haven't played KZ2 in a while, but I still think it's the best FPS this gen... on all platforms.

I think he was referring to cheating apps and a general abundance of cheating on Ps3 multiplayer. I'm not very sure myself what he meant... To be honest I don't have a lot of multiplayer experience on ps3, so I wanted to check this out, since multiplayer would be a very important part for me.

If you haven't played it yet Killzone is worth getting for the SP campaign alone.

How different? They didn't just make Killzone 3 into a Call of Duty rip-off did they?

This, as long as ur not used to playing FPS's on the other consoles (otherwise u'll notice its quite slow and clunky!)

No. It still has the feel and atmosphere of KZ2, but they've tweaked some of the details. There is a currency system like Black Ops has... where you just buy the weapons and upgrades you want for each class. They've also worked with the controls to please those that complained about the weighted feeling. Personally, I never had a problem with it.

If by "slow and clunky" you mean realistic... then yeah it's slow and clunky. The controls are meant for you to feel as if you were actually running with an assault rifle... not like twitchy arcade shooters.
