I was playing through my games today and realised that Killzone 2 has the most realistic display of weapons and control. When you are controlling Sev it really feels as though you are lumbering around with a tonne of equipment on you which is exactly what it would be like in warfare. Also the weapons are spot on. Guns don't fire as easy as in other games. I was playing MW2 and it was so easy to kill people but then hop into KZ2 and you are firing all over the place just like a real gun and a bullet never hits the same place twice with such realistic recoil. Also with rockets in other games they fire in straight lines with straight smoke trails, even in the almighty U2 they do this. But in Killzone the rockets fire in Zig Zag trails.

Guerrilla Games really thought about all this stuff and by the looks of the KZ3 footage they have even improved the weapons physics. I am extremely impressed by it all. No other game has given me such a realistic feel behind the butt of a gun before.

I agree. And its pretty hard to claim that a game is the most realistic, I don't think technology has gotten far enough to really call that. Besides, I'm more impressed by attention to detail.

no realistic would be ArmA II.

Yes, KZ2 has realistic aspects to it, but it's not realistic.

I have to agree.. I've been playing the KZ3 Alpha for a while now and it seems they've toned down the player weight physics a fair bit..

BAM! TRUTH!

You beat me to it, but I've been playing OFDR for the last month and I am VERY impressed with the game in terms of realism of pacing, physics, etc. The game makes me mega-tense, because one minor slip and it's death... with no save points, respawns, perks, etc etc.

I call it "The Cure For CoD".

Right on, I love the game too, and what I love about it is there are multiple ways to do the same thing and your actions kind of affect the outcome for that level, etc. I'm on the fourth mission now on normal mode, I took control of the airfield and now I have to somehow stay alive, I swear there are about 17 guys surrounding me at various spots, I'm like WTF?! Epic game, I want to buy Red River when it releases! :D

I did. Guess I'll explain myself better.

Weighty controls/character, recoil, weapon feel, etc are all realistic parts to the game. But it sill doesn't change the fact that the game is unrealistic.

Arma II is a simulation making it realistic.

I'm looking at it as a whole. Maybe that's where the misunderstanding came from.

I agree...but at the same time the amazingly realistic weight and feel to the weapons/bullet trails was also one of the most frustrating things about KZ2 IMO. It got in the way of me enjoying the game to the point that I traded it in after I beat it (which I said I would never do).....however, I did enjoy the multiplayer more than the campaign.

Killzone 2 rocked in every aspect, but yeah, it did feel heavy and the weapons felt weighty and powerful. Good game, can't wait for KZ3.

i would have to say that Uncharted 2 is the most realistic game in terms of shooting. When u run and gun, it isnt accurate, but u can look down barell. Cover system works incredibly well and is very smooth. u can climb, jump over almost everything. Also, melee combat even feels good. most FPS dont offer the ablility to control ur char as much/.

I agree U2 is exceptional but you're missing my point. When you fire an RPG in U2 it travels in a dead straight line with a dead straight smoke trail. Real rockets don't fire like that. They are not as controlled in real life.

I never played the game but I was always told Operation Dragon Rising had that title. I know KZ2 isn't realistic because if snipers could turn invisible it would be the end of the world.

Brothers in Arms, ArmA, ArmA 2, and Operation Flashpoint have something to say to that.

Yeah because you need half a clip to bring down a moving organism. Because a sniper round won't dismember a leg or arm. Because space marines EXIST! Because Assault rifles are used in full auto. Snipers can turn invisi- wait, according to Tom Clancy that is almost real.

I wouldn't say it's all that realistic. Guns have recoil but they don't spray all over the place like in KZ2 even with controlled bursts. I felt the aiming took some getting used to but I'm not sure I'd call it realistic when I clumsily wave my gun around. Don't get me wrong I love KZ2 but calling it the most realistic FPS, might be a stretch too far. Realism has never meant fun in games for me. In fact, just make it as unrealistic as possible it's always the safer bet. Of course, I'm saying this after playing a month of Bayonetta so, go figure :P

Just gotta dig in and force the fight to occur where you want it to, not where they do. Easier said than done though. I remember that objective. My favorite part of OpFlash is the bullet drop. Long shot with the M4? You better be aiming high.

Ok you guys obviosuly don't research enough because scientists in California already have the ideas and tech almost ready for a cloaking suit. Not perfect sure but its not as farfetched as you guys make it out to be.Here are some links:
