Killzone 2 "Coming sooner than you think"

From the 1up podcast, its a little past the midway point for anyone that wants to listen. One guy also says how Killzone 2 is most likely to disappoint.

Opinions?

i dont think they should release the game without having a well put finished product.

That's what I was thinking...why rush out a game after putting so much money into it? Just so it doesn't have to compete with Resistance 2? I highly doubt it.

Whats wrong with judging a game befor playing it? i can tell you know that if they were to release Barbies wonder adventure,i wouldnt play it

Would you like me to add that Halo 3 was the worst in the series? Because it was... Take Halo 2, add glitches galore, a couple of useless features that do nothing to enhance gameplay, crappier mp maps, and you have Halo 3. That's why if you look at my gamercard you'll see I haven't played the game since Nov (no coincidence around the time COD4 came out).

But any Halo was still 100x better then Killzone. I dunno why you would defend a game you've never played, especially a sequel to a sub-par title that got an average review of about 6.5/10. With the flood of FPS games on both systems, there's no excuse to play one rated so lowly. Of course Killzone 2 could completely blow away the first one, but after seeing the previous work of the developers, I'm remaining skeptical until the games out

People tend to put too much faith in Guerrilla. They've yet to prove themselves when it comes to console FPS games. I don't even give a squat about KZ2. Gimme my damn Resistance 2 and I'm a happy boy.BioShockOwnz

I only believe X360 games have received inflated scores since its launch. Just go to GameRankings and check those flooded 100s, 98s, 97s and you'll know what I'm talking about.

What's more pathetic is how you don't know how to read. I never said or implied that I think KZ2 is going to disappoint. I'm not going to speak for the rest of you who have set insane expectations for this game, you guys will probably be disappointed. I know I won't, because i'm not dumb enough to have insanely high expectations of a game based off of enhanced screenshots and an impressive lighting system.

Halo 3 disappointed because it fell short of nearly everyone's expectations and that's because they were set so high. What makes you think KZ2 won't disappoint? Atleast Bungie made great games while GG has yet to do so. Why all the optimisim all of a sudden?

The reasoning for NG2 is pretty legit. DMC4 will have set the bar by the time NG2 is out, and they said that in NG2 there is no realtime weapon changing. I'm not sure if I agree with them, but they probably won't be wrong. Since it's a NG game, everyone is going to hype it up to the extreme and it'll fall short, hence becoming a disappointment although it will also probably be great.

Sadly, that is the current trend nowadays. Hype a game up for no apparent reason to have it fall short and be criticized even though they are good.

Dont worry man there are a ton of paranoid Sony fans on this board. I got suspended for 5 days last sunday for saying I bought a PS3, supposedly I was trolling because I said the clerk originally talked me out of buying the system. The evidence they used was that I had a 360 tag in my sig...Anyhoo long story short, a few hours after I posted that I bought I got notice of suspension.

As for Killzone, I probably wont buy it just because Im not a huge fan of the first game, I might if it gets steller reviews though.

I dont know what everyones problem is with Killzone one, i personally loved the game and cant wait for KZ2

i just hope that it has good online support to pull me away from other titles like RFOM2.

whom ever said that GG never made good games, i thought the first one was pretty solid, and killzone for psp is still one of the best games out for that sysem. killzone actually has a pretty decent storyline with good voice acting unlike some other fps's. so what if the graphics in the frist one was grainy, at least it brings the real color of war. war is not all pretty and colorful like halo. if GG put a lot of time in this and i mean a lot of time it should be a brilliant game. the only way people think it's going to suck is because people have extremely high expectations for it, and when they don't get what they expected they say it sucks. but, really people shouldn't have really high expectations like that, even if it doesn't fulfill your expectations right away. they may be an upadate to add stuff like how warhawk is doing. 2008 is a great year for ps3, and it is going to be a killer around the world except maybe the united states, beacuse they are too much in their american products, which are kinda crappy lol. i live in wisconsin so don't bash me about hating america, although i would much rather be back in South Africa.

No one is forcing you to stay in America or buy our "crappy" products. Also, you may not want to keep coming to Gamefaqs/ spot, seeing as how CNET is headquarted in San Fransisco and these sites are some of their products.

It's really not far-fetched at all. If you look at the videos it's really the same game with ridiculous amounts of gore and no fast weapon switching. This is really the first ninja gaiden sequel as well, as they remade the first game 3 times across 2 platforms.

I'm not pro or anti anything but I have to agree with most of what 1up has said. If you think about it, Resistance 2 came out with its features right as it was announced. Killzone 2...we know looks good and has cover mechanics.

People get FPS games for the multiplayer generally and yet nothing as been said for KZ2's. It's alot like Haze actually, though Haze has actually released alot more info about its singleplayer. While I have more faith in KZ than Haze, neither comes close to Resistance's pedigree both as a franchise and from the people who are making it.

Most of the games coming out this year won't live up to their respective hype, but that won't stop people from including it in their "wanted" lists just so it seems like they have more than they can play and feel content.

Killzone was still a decent game. It wasn't great but it was decent. Killzone Liberation was actrually pretty FUN. And from what we've seen of KZ2, it will definitely be better than the first console game. The gameplay will be more intense and engaging. I'm still not as hyped on it as the legion of fanboys but I still think it'll be worth playing. But in my estimation, it'll just be a prettier COD4. And I think that'll be the thing that hurts it most... even being a good game, I'm not sure it will truly stand out from any previous fps titles (aside from the gorgeous gfx).

BUT.... I will agree that Resistance 2 is THE fps title I'm looking forward to this year.

It makes more sense for gamers to be cautiously optimistic and give the noticeably improving developers (now owned by Sony) a chance to prove us wrong instead of just believing it will flat out suck because it is Guerrilla and Killzone.

Didn't Sony improve Geurilla? I heard that they like brought in a new developing team so its different from the last dev team and they have like 100+MalachiLiu

Yeah Sony injected so much money into the projet its buget looks like Kratos on steroids, and hired more devs then you can shack a stick at.

Due to this its not really compairable to KZ1 which in comparison was made by some old pals in their room for 100 bucks...
