Yes you can download the full multiplayer part of the game without buying it, but it will have a level cap though and ranking limitations and that's it.
Anyone else having trouble downloading it? I bought the full multiplayer version and I can't seem to play it. It installs in less than five seconds for me and says it's done but then it doesn't show the game on my console. Is this just me? Should I call Sony? Also what is the number for Sony of America anyway?

Just delete it, re-download, make sure your connected, and try again. I have a feeling its like MAG/PC games - you download the 'launcher/installer' and then when you load that up, you download a kajillion bytes.

After you reach the level cap you can pay to unlock the whole multiplayer. I think its a great idea. it would make alot of sense for other companys to try downloadable multiplayer. *cough* activision *cough* cod *cough* subscription *cough*
Can I just say though - this is a pointless move. It's like Warhawk, or MAG, or even COD. In fact, like any other online shooter with progression, or even just an online shooter which requires any sort of skill. Every player is at max level, with everything unlocked, know the maps back to front - pretty much everything. I'm an avid gamer but only bought KZ3 the other week. Normally I'm way above average at shooters but nope, KZ3 is impossible. By the time you reached the level of the veterans, they will all of started KZ4.

I wish I could. It just says that it installed yet nothing actually did. The game it said was 6 KB.

The F2P version locks you out of the game as soon as you hit Level 10 until you cough up fifteen bucks. Other than that, there's no difference between the versions.

I haven't played since a few weeks after release but played some multiplayer today. I was getting sniped from my spawn points before I even got a chance to move.
I was also putting entire clips from a LMG into guys backs only to have them turn around and drop me with one shot from a pistol. I haven't game raged in years, but I was doing it this afternoon.
