So, just a simple question...but before that, I have to admit that I'm one of those ppl that dislike playing FPS games on console and much prefer using the traditional keyboard and mouse. Anyways, after seeing some trailers/gameplay of the Killzone series, it made me think...maybe I should try it out? Then after wednesdays Playstation meeting and live demo of the new Killzone, it really made up my mind.

Ok, i'll get to the point now, does killzone have a storyline that continues from Killzone 1 to 3? Something like Uncharted/Crysis series, where you need to play the first one in order to understand the storyline for the 2nd one? Or it doesn't matter?

Because I see that Killzone 1 is for PS2 and only from Kill 2 is for PS3.

The reason i'm asking is because I don't want to miss out the story before I get my hands on the new killzone for PS4 etc. Also that I can get Killzone 2 and 3 cheaper separately but will miss out kill 1, OR should I just fork out a lot more money for the Trilogy box set???

Thanks, I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to say.

kz2 and kz3 are pretty cheap now, i think gamespot sells both for a bout 10-15 used, now im assuming you like here in the us, but if not im guessing there isnt much of a price difference, also i believe you can buy killzone 1 off the ps store or just buy the trilogy and used the download voucher there. i loved killzone 1 but i must warn you, after playing it now it is very outdated. i hope this helps you out friend...

also as far as the story goes, kz1 is pretty much set alone for the most part, 2 and 3 tie into each other pretty well, if you have a psp id play killzone liberation as that fills in the gap between killzone 1 and 2

Thanks for the reply!

I don't live in US, I live in South Africa. So prices will be a bit more than the usual. Example, I went to a local tech store there other day, and in the game section I stumbled upon the Killzone Trilogy box set, and to my suprise its priced at R699 which is $78 with direct currency exhange rate. Which is rediculously expensive, considering that this series has been out for quite a while. where I could get myself used Killzone 2 & 3 game for much cheaper and still have enough money to buy off PS Store.

Anyways, after browsing online store for the game, I managed to find a boxset for R542 = $61 which is equivalent to a newly released game these days, which is a good buy, considering that its new.

BUT after what you've said about the Killzone 1, that the story isn't really related/tie to 2 & 3, I now can't make up my mind wheather I should get the trilogy or the just 2&3...but I'm the kind of person where If I do play a series I don't want to skip anyone, but then again...killzone originals graphics and gameplay, is quite outdated.

Oh..I don't know

Killzone Trilogy is the way to go if you want to experience the whole series story. Part one does tie in with 2 and 3, but not as much as 2 and 3 tie right after the ending of 2 if that makes any sense. You can play all 3 on your ps3 if you get the trilogy hd compilation, really worth it. I just got into the series last October and I even got the platinum of KZ3 'cuss of how much I loved it!

To me, absolutely not. You don't have the need to play all three consecutively in order to get the story straight. For 2 and 3, sure, maybe play the second one's campaign just for the references in 3, but like I said, it isn't really worthwhile. However, both games are absolutely fantastic and I recommend playing both of them for the story mode, and the third one for the online MP. The online in 3 is SO fun.

The history and story of the KZ universe goes so much deeper than any of the games take you. If you really want to know what's going on, I highly recommend you read the timeline and other story bits on the official website. It's excellent reading, and it will endear you to the series even more. Once you read that stuff, you would be able to jump in at KZ2 and be completely up to speed.

hahayeah, for some odd reason, after watching/reading the reviews for killzone, I've changed my mind again and decided to get something else such as Infamous 1 & 2. Always love those open world games...

Might get this series later this year~

Killzone 3 is my favorite. You get to do a lot of different kinds of battling in it.

Yes the story is continuous. 1 is a HD remake so it looks prettier, but still plays like a old school shooter. 2 has the best campaign, but the controls arent the best, but are fine once you get used to them. 3 has the best controls, gameplay, graphics and has splitscreen campaign but has the dumbest story and Rico is just stupid.

If you want all DLC for KZ2 and 3 with your games then buy the trilogy. If you just want to play the story, it would be fine to start with 2. You play as a different main character in 2, so you could just read up what happens in 1 if you want.Â
