Kingdom Hearts 1.5 coming soon to the west

The game has been confirmed to be coming to NA later this year and it includes Re: Chain of Memories and Final Mix plus some cutscenes from a DS game in the series. Considering what more complete PS3 release have accomplished (God of War trilogy etc.), doesn't this re-release feel a bit stripped? From what I understand, we're essentially only getting Kingdom Hearts II and a mediocre spin-off game that takes place between 1 & 2.

I haven't yet played a Kingdom Hearts game as I chose to skip the PS2 versions and wait for the inevitable PS3 HD release, but I think 1.5 sounds a bit disappointing and now fans will have to wait for a second re-release to get the other half of the story.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like total underutilization of bluray space.

Yes. Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix will appear next year in the Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix Collection (ugh, that title). It'll come with Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix, Birth By Sleep: Final Mix, and either Re:Coded or Dream Drop Distance somehow (whether that be playable ports or HD cutscenes).

I wouldn't expect Dream Drop Distance anytime soon.

Hoepfully the change the controls to a more modern scheme.  Kingdom Hearts 1 did not use the right analog stick to move the camera around.  The camera itself also followed Sora a little too close.  The fixed all of this in KH 2. 

The fact that it's "1.5" is a bit annoying to me, because 1 & 2 are the ones I'm really interested in- don't particularly care about the handheld games (I have 358/2 Days for DS already actually) and I've been debating getting a PS2 since the PS2 versions are still available- if there's an HD collection, though, may as well save some space and stick with my PS3. This collection makes me feel stuck in the middle, though. :P

It's funny you brought this up as I overheard a conversaion at EB Games earlier and they were talking about 1.5 Remix coming to NA. This is great timing as I'm looking into getting a PS3 and don't have any of my old PS2 games. It's too bad there isn't a collection with every Kingdom Hearts game on it. That would be something to get psyched for! Of course porting all the handheld games to console would be annoying and I do have them all except Birth By Sleep, but will 2.5 Remix have a playable version of BBS or will it just be cutscenes?

I'll be getting this when it comes out. Loved the original Kingdom Hearts, but never owned a copy of my own. Looking forward to replaying all those great boss fights. 

Finally, Ive been waiting for this. Not too long ago I played through my original copies on my ps2 but they look a bit rough around the egdes on a HDTV, so this will be nice.

I was tempted to import the Japanese version but might not need to now since that it's also coming to UK/Europe as well. We never got Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories for the PS2 back in 2008 :( this makes up the loss time for it.
