has anyone seen this movie using the ps3 blu-ray player?
i thought i read somewhere that it's probably one of the best looking movies avail. at the moment in HD (50gb)...and that it has a very good transfer to compliment high def. viewing & sound.

before i buy it i would like to know if this is true and indeed a recommendable purchase?
it's $34.99 at my local bestbuy  but if it's worth it i'll buy it!

btw, i have a sony rear pro. LCD hdtv with 480p, 720p & 1080i capability...and i'm sure 1080p has the better display but can anyone comment on the movie with a simular set up?

*i'm not accumilating a collection of blu-ray or hd dvd movies until there's a definate decision...but i'd like to have atleast 1 or 2 in the mean time (standard dvd's are still good enough imo until then)!

thanks

Right now the highest rated Bluray film is The Pristege, it got a 5 star rating for video, I believe Kingdom of Heaven got a 41/2. I recently bought Black Rain which scored a 41/2 for visual and it looks good not great but good. So expect the same. If you want the best HD visual get The Pristege

Some movies are worth it, if you are going to watch it multiple times.

I watched K.O.H one time and really enjoyed it, but will not watch it for awhile. It is over 3 hours long.
I mainly bought it for showing off my PS3 Blu-ray player.

thanks for the replies...i was just checking out some more opinions & suggestions at the ps3 forum on the subject:

http://www.ps3forums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=87

looks like Kingdom of Heaven, Prestige, the Departed, Ice Age MD, Crank, BlackHawk Down and several others are highly recommendable with good video transfer & good sound!

i'm going with the Kingdom of Heaven & the true 5.1 DTS pure sound...but 3hrs is quite long    maybe that's why it says 50gb on the back of the package?

thanks again

I have Kingdom of Heaven along with several others. In my opinion Corpse Bride looks the best. Maybe because they are puppets, they look absolutely real.

Kingdom of Heaven is a good reference disk for audio and video.  It's exciting to think that the audio can actually get better!  With the PS3 and HDMI what your hearing is DTS-HD,  but after the march update we'll be getting DTS-HD Master Audio which sounds even better.

DTS-HD is lossy audio.
DTS-HD Master Audio is lossless

Too bad hardly anyone has a receiver that can decode DTS-HD. I wish mine could. DTS still sounds really awesome though.

The receiver does not do the decoding the player does :|

And after the March update PS3 will be able to decode DTS-HD MA, it already decodes TrueHD from Dolby.
